Trail cameras are one of humanity's greatest inventions. The ability to watch these incredible animals in their natural habitat is a gift that very few humans in history have ever gotten to experience. We get to watch it from our homes.
By November–December, this El Niño will be the strongest any living person has ever experienced. It is expected to completely surpass any previous year by a massive margin.
Combined with ongoing climate change, global temperatures could briefly reach nearly 2°C above preindustrial levels in early 2027. Earth has likely not experienced temperatures that warm in hundreds of thousands of years.
At these elevated temperatures, we are going to see unprecedented climate and extreme weather events over the next 12–18 months.
Sea surface temperatures in the tropical Pacific have already reached Super El Niño status. A huge volume of warm water still remains in the pipeline, with a record-smashing amount of subsurface heat content in the tropical Pacific yet to surface. This subsurface heat is completely exceeding that of any prior year, including the powerful 1982–83, 1997–98, and 2015–16 El Niño's.
Everything about this El Niño is record-breaking. The rate of warming, the projected peak, the amount of subsurface heat content, etc. The next 12–18 months will be eventful, to say the least...
The Government™ made an ad about Ai Data Centres, and it’s surprisingly honest and informative. #auspol
(Tag @AlboMP and tell him you want a data centre moratorium until strong legislation is in place)
We always called this a stomach vacuum. Eating a couple bites of this every day does wonders for your gut health. My Amish cookbook is available on my website https://t.co/HQX3rnIO3E
Climate denial is getting louder. Reality is getting harder to ignore.
When parks are brown, rivers are shrinking and firefighters are battling blazes across the globe, governments must accelerate climate action, not slow it down.

Highly informative article about the recent record-breaking heat and wildfires in Europe. It dives into the science about the causes, quoting several experts. Worth reading!

Read this. It's hard to ignore. Let it sink in.
'Scientists detect a sharp acceleration in global warming'.
"If the warming rate of the past 10 years continues, it would lead to a long-term exceedance of the 1.5°C limit of the Paris Agreement before 2030."
"How quickly the Earth continues to warm ultimately depends on how rapidly we reduce global CO2 emissions from fossil fuels to zero."

I finally have all 1.2 million raw image files from my latest mission to ISS! Here is a sample of one of my favorite Milky Way photos, taken from the Cupola with Nikon Z9, Arri Zeiss 15mm lens, T1.8 with custom sidereal drive that cancelled out star motion relative to our orbit.
Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface
@damo_sheff@LoppyOubri26414@Michelle71966 The problem is, it’s not just “the basics”. Not all government systems for example are, or were necessarily even designed to be (as a high priority), particularly user-friendly. Many are built to a price or delivery date …
I'm going through something similar with my mother. She's got a lot of friends her age and older, and it seems like a lot of them simply aren't having many of their needs met because of it. Routinely out of prescription medications because the process is so hostile. Not receiving their meager benefit payments because of some paperwork glitch that they can't figure out. Power getting disconnected, no phone or internet for intermittent periods. Bank account empty because of getting scammed the 13th time. Getting gouged on prices for EVERYTHING because they have a tough time sorting through all the options. All relatively intelligent people who are in retirement and are merely having a tough time managing all this shit
I think of all the people in even more challenging situations and how they must be handling all of this. And the sad fact is that they often aren't
@JayHowe32289579@MFWitches How does mandatory military service prevent DV? Any evidence? There are high levels of violence in the marriages of serving & former defence members …
@orsontwil@MFWitches Sorry, who’s allegedly killing these alleged men? If 4 women can be murdered in one week then there’s clearly a lot of allegations (I’m thinking tip and iceberg) of less severe violence and real threats against women that aren’t “false” …
