Four years ago, when I co-founded @risczero, my vision was clear: make Zero Knowledge proofs accessible to everyone.

Since then we have come a long way, it’s incredible to see the technology we created being adopted by industry leaders in web3 across the spectrum of use cases - from DeFi to Rollups. I also take pride in noting that our approach has  inspired others to build alternative versions like @succinct, @jolt, @zksync and @lita.

This morning, I woke up to another surprise: @drakefjustin discussing the possibility of using zkVMs as a core component of Ethereum’s consensus.. What was once considered a bold (or even infeasible) idea is now being considered for a major upgrade. Many are questioning the timeline of this upgrade (projected for 2029), just as they did with the  feasibility of the zkVM. I think this projection is incredibly conservative and I believe this can be shipped much faster.

We’re already collaborating with the Ethereum Foundation and others on some adjacent efforts such as formal verification and real-time proving. A RISC-V zkVM opens ZKPs to any developer, and we’re pushing further with @boundless_xyz to make production-ready ZK applications accessible to all developers.
