77% Of Parents Say Cost Has Prevented Them Accessing The Childcare They Need |@Merton_Council Please don’t make it harder for local families to access affordable childcare #savelavendernursery @eleanormerton1 @MMLabour
@MertonTories In a recent public consultation, 221 respondents out of 240 respondents opposed the closure of the nursery. Most advocating the use of other council assets so as not to close essential services. Surely there is a better solution? @MertonLabour
SAVE LAVENDER NURSERY! Sign + share our petition. Oppose @Merton_Council’s shortsighted plan to close it despite recognising “a gap in the market” for early years provision, 220+ objections from local families and criticism from @Siobhain_Mc + @MMLabour https://t.co/aMiG8K8O7v
I know a pregnant primary school teacher who is giving up her job for a flexible admin role because her wages won't cover childcare costs of 2 children under-3. Why do we just accept that in this country? Seriously - we can revolt for football, but we just shrug at this bullshit?
Dear women and girls,
On #IWD2021 and every day, we want you to know that you are capable of more than you know. Harness the power within and pursue leadership roles in all spaces of society. Happy International Women's Day!

@Lavender_PA @cllrallison @eleanorlondon@JoanHen15319178@carolinecm96@AgathaAkyigyina@Siobhain_Mc With changing work practices and flexible/remote working here to stay in a post-COVID world, it is unlikely that council office buildings will be fully occupied again. Could these potentially underused buildings also be considered as an alternative?
.@EdithmacauleyM Thanks for supporting our #savelavendernursery campaign + recognising the devastating impact that its closure will have on Lavender Fields families accessing affordable childcare + funded places. @cllrallison can we count on your support too as a ward councillor?
@Lavender_PA@SadiqKhan@Merton_Council@eleanorlondon@Siobhain_Mc The proposal to close Lavender Nursery is baffling given the demand for affordable childcare and funded places in the area. Now all the more damaging given the @EYAlliance research highlighting the extent of London’s childcare sector crisis
I’m calling on the Government to do everything in its power to support these key services. They are not just vital to London’s economic recovery, but are also a lifeline for many of London’s working families and a part of our duty of care to children.
