Following South Africa’s announcement last week on the introduction of the eTA for Ugandan passport holders;
we have prepared this simple explainer to help our citizens understand what the new process means, who it applies to and how to apply.
👇
The Government of South Africa announced the inclusion of holders of valid Ugandan passports in South Africa’s Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) system.
But what does this actually mean for Ugandans planning to travel to South Africa?
👉 You apply online before travelling.
👉 You do not need a VFS appointment for the eTA application.
👉 You must still meet all applicable immigration and entry requirements when you arrive.
At the weekend, I joined our diaspora community in Namibia to welcome its new leadership, a powerful reminder of the strength in unity, solidarity, and patriotism. In my remarks, I emphasised the importance of camaraderie and collaboration, as these are our pillars of strength and pride. Dr. Majoro Grace Kabayo's inspiring story from exile back to her roots touched on our deep connection to Uganda, asserting it as our identity's foundation. The Uganda High Commission in Pretoria commits to supporting and working closely with Ugandas in diaspora to promote and advance our national interests. Our new leaders in Namibia are set to build on the strong legacy of their predecessors, ensuring our community thrives through mutual support while contributing positively to both Uganda and Namibia. May we remain committed to resilience, unity, and our role in Uganda’s growth and international representation. Humbled to represent our nation as we continue flying our flag high. 🇺🇬🤝🇳🇦 @UgandaMFA@UgEmbassySA@GovUganda@ubctvuganda@newvisionwire@nbstv@ntvuganda@ugandarn@UGIndependent@LBSRadio903@DailyMonitor@GCICUganda@UgandaMediaCent
Last evening, I had the distinct honor of inaugurating the new office of the Honorary Consul of Uganda in Eros, Windhoek, Namibia. I salute Prince Joseph Ndawula for achieving this important milestone and for his diligent service to our diaspora community in Namibia. Uganda and Namibia share a strong and fraternal relationship, and this new office will play a vital role in strengthening and deepening these ties, complementing the efforts of @UgEmbassySA in Pretoria. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team for their dedication, and I am committed to working closely to ensure our bilateral relations continue to flourish. @UgandaMFA @MIRCO_NAMIBIA @ubctvuganda@SHUDiasporaUnit@UgandaMediaCent #UgandaNamibia #Diplomacy
Yesterday, we celebrated the 62nd Independence Anniversary of the Republic of Uganda at the Mercury Hotel in Windhoek, Namibia, under the theme "A Recommitment to Secure and Fortify Our Destiny." It was an honor to host distinguished guests, including Honourable Jenelly Matundu, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, who served as our Chief Guest. Discussions highlighted our commitment to strengthening Uganda-Namibia relations through unity, resilience, and cooperation for sustainable growth. We reaffirmed our dedication to harnessing the potential of our diaspora, fostering trade, and deepening cultural exchanges. Thank you, Hon. Jenelly Matundu, for your inspiring presence and unwavering support for our bilateral efforts. I encouraged the Ugandan community in Namibia to continue the spirit of independence by collaborating on common goals, promoting trade, and respecting the customs of our host country. @UgandaMFA@ubctvuganda @MIRCO_NAMIBIA @UgEmbassySA
I was delighted to host Mr. Mohammed Bagonza, the Head of the Diaspora Unit at State House and Senior Presidential Advisor, during his courtesy visit to the Uganda High Commission in Pretoria. Along with key diaspora leaders, including SPA-Trade Phillip Kakuru, Ms. Charity Baira from the NRM-UK Chapter, Ms. Hamida Kibirige, SPA-ICT at State House, COUSA President Mr. Moses Kibombo and Mr. Norman Nimusima. We engaged in constructive discussions aimed at enhancing our relationship with the diaspora community.
