#OnThisDay in 1966, Dr. Michael DeBakey successfully used an #LVAD in Esperanza Del Valle Vasquez. After a four-hour surgery, Dr. DeBakey discovered he could not restart the patient's heart. Instead, he implanted the artificial pump, which supported hear heart for 10 days.
