@Richie_Jackson@nytimes I don't see where he argues queers shouldn't be allowed to exist as the kind of community they want to be. The question is whether they can demand all gay people include themselves in that community. And anyway, why would radicalist queers be upset if "respectable" gays opt out?
@StatisticUrban We need to distinguish between American, which implies cultural belonging, and American citizen, which is a legal status that can be achieved by checking certain boxes. Being unclear about those terms makes it hard to discuss this.
@xwanyex There is an interesting question in here about whether you can legally be an American citizen without being what is understood by most people as "an American," but that's a little out of scope for the Supreme Court.
@megynkelly Just have Trump sign an EO declaring Florida to be 100 states. Better yet, just break into the National Archives with some white out and fix the parts of the constitution you don't like.
@CoreyWriting Selecting justices based on a willingness to clearly misread the constitution would be a dangerous development but one that's more likely than not to happen over the next few terms. Who's excited for our 500-member SCOTUS selected based on their activist bona fides.
@ohiochip56@RonDeSantis@iowegun There is no political will even for unqualified deportation of illegal immigrants. If Trump tries to shut down student visas and H1Bs, it will be his last month in office.
@douglassmackey I don't think absolute birthright citizenship is a great policy, but how does a decision reaffirming the 160-year status quo constitute the dissolution of the US?
@ImTotallyaVA@LinkofSunshine To clarify, I was suggesting that lots of people from various backgrounds, including potentially me, would consider moving to NYC if the cost of living were primed to drop substantially overnight.
