@Loudone25@seitzinator@KatrinaMartling@sfchronicle You can’t do that.
Listen, she’s a friend of a friend, and a professional colleague. We were all listening to her, but then I could see the things she was saying weren’t 100%, even though she was putting it that way.
That’s a huge problem.
@Loudone25@seitzinator@KatrinaMartling@sfchronicle That’s *exactly* the point. She made absolute statements about a novel virus that was mutating rapidly in a public forum characterized by fear and disinformation.
@BryBrightside @rahmani_khatera@sfchronicle And MY point is that expecting people to be able to calculate risk is unrealistic. I’m not supporting this approach to Covid in any way, a& it puts all of my patients at risk, it puts my child at risk, but somehow the argument becomes that I’m too young and too inept? A hearty FU
@BryBrightside @rahmani_khatera@sfchronicle Lol, way to miss the point of any of this, but it is fun getting mansplained - I’ve never actually been mansplained before. Oh, you’re adorable. Are you stamping your foot because the lady-doctors aren’t listening enough to you? Lol
(I do surgical risk assessments for a living).
@BodyDysmorphiaD @GigabyteRaptor @IOCDF Where are you guys going to be shocked when you see what a ventilator does to your mental health. Let alone dying.
@seitzinator@KatrinaMartling@sfchronicle There’s an entire slate article that you can Google, and she’s wrong about a lot of things. But she stated her recommendations in absolute terms rather than the sort of “information we have now“ terms you typically see with Fauci etc. that “hedging“ is actually really important.
@Sherry_Reson@sfchronicle Thank you. She put her recommendations in absolute terms, even though she was dealing with people who are able to process nuance. If you’re going to put something in absolute terms, then you need to be 100% right. And she wasn’t, so then she lost complete credibility.
@sfchronicle Yes but what she was saying back in May-July was that if you were vaccinated you had zero concerns, & that was not the case w/Delta. She put info out there in terms that were *absolute,* and once it came back wrong, it was hard to believe anything she Or anyone else said.
@nytimes@Newsweek@MSNBC@AP it’s all about the clicks, right?Going to assume you trust your actual readership is vaccinated, so who gives a fuck if the people who don’t read so good go ahead and die, right? Long as you got that click.
NYT, MSNBC, Newsweek, & AP all mention Colin Powell being fully vaccinated in their headlines, but don’t mention that he was immunocompromised from multiple myeloma.
Remind anti-vaxxers that Colin Powell had blood cancer that made him very immuno-compromised. So, as they dance on his grave thinking they’re making a point about vaccines, they contributed to his death by not doing their part to slow the spread of COVID.
Please get vaccinated.
@DaniellaCarlisi@CheriJacobus@GuitarGirlNK @theUSideal @davidlefler As a clinical psychologist, I think the RNC brought in a consultant on how to work w/narcissistic personality disorder. Because the fawning & kowtowing & obsequiousness is disgusting to those of us watching, but so incredibly effective in the short term w/this diagnosis.
Best books I read in 2020

“If you show up at the gym 5 days in a row—even for 2 minutes—you're casting votes for your new identity. You’re not worried about getting in shape. Youre focused on becoming the type of person who doesn’t miss workouts”
@WFKARS He was the dark horse for me. The bakes he did this weekend were stunning, and really seemed a couple notches above what he did during the first episodes! Also, yes, he’s a total boyfriend.
@RosieBrandreth@mschakraverty If you’re giving the bigoted twats of this world nosebleeds and tantrums, then you’re fighting the good fight, and you’re doing it well. I wish I could say the perfect thing here, but alas, I’m just a stranger in the Ethernet who admires your humanity and heart.
@GarrettHaake Anyone smart knew this would be investigated and made damn sure they were documenting every little which way the screw turned. Don’t ever be the last provider signing off on the chart of a suicidal patient, as we say.
