It's dependent on the niche of the site tbf
But that's what I do for my affiliate sites
(plus I have a most popular blog section on my homepage so I can send a little more juice to the posts that need help)

This is particularly useful advice @Noahs4Cents for blogs who monetise through affiliate links, or through ads (both have low linkability rates as other site owners see straight through you when asking for a backlink)
