Being in America on a study/work visa does not make them an American!
See the statements from Microsoft and TATA on their alleged abuse of hiring foreign workers instead of US citizens.
They are not hiring local talent! They call these F1 students local because they are already in the USA. They hire foreign F1 students with OPT+STEM work authorization and try to convert them to H1B after 3 years, or let them keep working full-time on Day1CPT programs for 3-4 more years with an online 2nd/3rd Master's degree.
Foreign student graduates on OPT+STEM/CPT get an unfair hiring advantage over US citizen graduates because of the 7.5% FICA tax savings available to US companies during the qualifying OPT+STEM/CPT period. When that savings is multiplied across even 10 new hires, it amounts to substantial money that goes directly to the company's bottom line. Equally, a foreign student will take that same job for 7-10% less than a citizen graduate because foreign students also do not pay FICA taxes either!
For this reason, US graduates are passed over in favor of foreign graduates on OPT/CPT, not necessarily because they are better qualified, but because they are cheaper for the employer to hire. At the same time, US companies effectively get workers who can be pressured into working extra hours for the same salary/wages. These workers may be less able to say no to excessive work demands because their immigration status and future employment prospects are tied to their jobs.
This creates another serious disadvantage for US graduates. Those first three critical years of professional experience are lost when they cannot secure entry-level employment, while foreign graduates on OPT/CPT accumulate experience, skills, promotions, and higher-level responsibilities. The resulting experience gap puts US graduates at a significant disadvantage later in their careers. Furthermore, US companies can sponsor these OPT/CPT workers for H-1B visas, continuing the same employment relationship. The incentive remains because employers can expect these workers to accept additional work hours and demanding conditions that US workers may be more willing to reject.
In effect, the system creates a labor-market advantage for employers by giving them access to foreign workers who are more dependent on maintaining their employment. The result is a system in which US graduates lose opportunities to foreign graduates not because of differences in talent or qualifications, but because immigration-linked employment creates a lower-cost and more employer-dependent workforce.

@jjstyx Don’t know which one had me feel more broke: eating Cheerios breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or pushing the budget on a box of generic fudgesicles
So, your staff is now telling me they don't want the "H-1B Only" recruiter ads and my research anymore. They're now trying to push it down to the local offices. There's 53 of them so that means I now have to send FAXES to 53 offices.
Well, I guess we're going to be doing faxes then. Tell your offices to prepare for a FAX TSUNAMI TODAY!!!!
@ScottFoxInsure We’re trying to appeal our wildfire risk score through cfpuw. It’s been 26 days since submitting our request and besides acknowledging the receipt, we haven’t heard back from them yet.
@ScottFoxInsure We’re having a hard time finding insurance now that we’re on the FAIR Plan. AAA representative told me despite the policy increases AAA negotiated with the state insurance commissioner, they still won’t take homes that are currently on the FAIR Plan.
@HouseDemocrats Idiots. That’s why so many people walked away from the Democratic Party. You’re on repeat with no real solutions to improve the lives of everyday Americans, unless it involves a handout of course.
A California family gave over $4.4 million in political donations to Governor Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris and other leading California politicians. And now, that family's alleged past links to infamous suspected honeypot spy Fang Fang, also known as Christine Fang, and other Chinese government officials have thrust them into an ongoing debate over foreign influence in American politics.
🚨 UC BERKELEY IS SEEKING AN H-1B WORKER FOR AN ADMISSIONS AND RECRUITMENT JOB PAYING $110,250 A YEAR.
Read that again.
Not AI.
Not quantum computing.
Not some highly specialized engineering position.
ADMISSIONS AND RECRUITMENT.
According to a newly uncovered filing, UC Berkeley sought H-1B employment for an:
“Admissions/Recruitment Specialist 3”
Salary: $110,250
And this isn’t an isolated filing.
The report says USCIS data shows 1,069 H-1B beneficiaries approved for UC Berkeley since FY2020.
DOL data also reportedly shows Berkeley filed 216 LCAs in 2025 alone.
Those positions included:
Assistant field hockey coach.
Assistant tennis coach.
Academic coordinator.
Public engagement executive.
Academic program manager.
And now admissions and recruitment.
H-1B is supposed to help employers access specialized talent they cannot otherwise find.
So here’s a very simple question for UC Berkeley:
You couldn’t find an American qualified to recruit students for $110,250 a year?
