Italy got Venice, Florence, and Genoa — three republics — while the rest of medieval Europe got kings.

The reason wasn't philosophy. It was topsoil…

When Rome dissolved in the West, every town in Europe woke up one morning without the empire.

No more imperial roads. No more patrols keeping bandits off them. No more grain ships. No more centralized anything.

Each town now had to feed itself, defend itself, govern itself — overnight.

A town surrounded by rich farmland could pull it off.

Its leading families gathered in a hall, declared a council, called it a senate in homage to the Romans, and ran the place.

That's how Venice did it. That's how Florence did it. That's how a dozen Italian city-states did it.

A town with thin soil couldn't.

When the food ran short and the bandits closed in, the people of a weak town did what scared people have always done — they walked toward whoever had walls and bodyguards.

Usually that was a noble family in a fortified country house. A villa.

"Protect us, and we'll work your land."

The town emptied. The villa filled.

The word for the settlement that grew around the villa was villaggio — village.

A village wasn't a small town. A village was a monarchy in miniature.

One lord. His goons. The peasants who fed him.

So the map of post-Roman Europe sorted itself by agriculture.

Good dirt grew republics. Bad dirt grew villages, which grew lords, which grew kings.

Italy had the best agricultural land in Europe.

That's why the Renaissance, when it came, came there.

Not because Italians were cleverer. Because Italian dirt fed enough merchants, for long enough, that merchants started to matter — and merchants who matter eventually read Cicero, build domes, and reshape the world.

You can only love the classics if someone is feeding you.

Someone was feeding Florence.

The concept of the “devil’s children” goes all the way back to Genesis 3:15.
The Lord mandated hatred between the “seed of the serpent,” and the seed of the woman (Jesus Christ).

In Matthew 3:7 John the Baptist identifies the devil’s seed as the Pharisees, all of whom are Jews. Pharisees are the very people who define Judaism.

Then Jesus Christ identifies the “seed of the serpent” as the Pharisees (the leaders of the Jews) in Matthew 12:34. He does it again in Matthew 23:15 and Matthew 23:33, referring to a “brood of vipers” which is the same is the “seed of the serpent. ” Jesus also calls these Jews the “sons of hell.”

These are the Jews.

In John’s Gospel account, the Beloved Apostle eschews the term Pharisee, and directly refers to Christ’s enemies as Jews. It is the Jews, said Jesus Christ, that are the devil’s children (John 8:44); this declaration exactly matches Genesis 3:15 — the “seed of the serpent.”

This is not a one-off Scripture — it is inherent in the Bible from Genesis 3:15 all the way through Revelation 3:9. Those who call themselves Jews are liars — they are Satan’s synagogue, not God’s people.

No reading of Acts allows any conclusion other than that Jews are enemies of the Christian Church, enemies of the Apostles, and enemies of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The entire identity of Jews, modern and ancient, is the rejection of Jesus Christ.

Judeo-Christians, along with Jews, deceive people by claiming that “Jew” and “Israel” are synonymous, but the Bible does not teach that. “Jew” is a cursed name (John 8:44, Rev 3:9, Rev 2:9, 1 Thes 2:15), “Israel” refers to Jacob’s offspring, and “Christian” is the new name for God’s people.

In June 1982, Israeli Defense Minister Ariel Sharon launched a full-scale invasion of Lebanon.

The official reason given was limited: push the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) back 40 kilometers so its rockets could no longer reach northern Israeli towns.

The real goal was much bigger: march all the way to Beirut, destroy the PLO, install a friendly Christian president, and force Lebanon to sign a peace treaty on Israel’s terms.

Sharon ignored his own his own cabinet's authorized limits. His tanks rolled straight past the 40-kilometer line and kept going until they reached the capital.

What followed was the most consequential case of military blowback in the history of the modern Middle East. Israel invaded to destroy one enemy - and ended up creating a far more dangerous one.

Mussolini on Bolshevism as a Jewish revolution (June 1919)

In Il Popolo d’Italia on 4 June 1919, while Communists were still in power in Hungary, Mussolini rejected the official claim that the Bolshevik revolution was the “proletarian Socialist revolution.”

Marx had said the proletarian revolution would follow a bourgeois one. No bourgeois revolution had occurred in Russia, so it couldn’t be what the Communists claimed.

If it wasn’t the proletarian revolution, what was it?

Mussolini argued it was not a German-Jewish revolution run by agents of Germany.

It was a revolution instigated by international Jewry, an act of Jewish vengeance against Christianity.

He stated:

80% of the Russian Communist leaders were Jews
17 of the 22 rulers of Communist Hungary were Jews

Bolshevism, he wrote, was financed by the banking houses of Rothschild, Warburg, Schiss and Guggenheim, who were of the same blood as those who ruled from Petrograd to Budapest.

“Race does not betray race… Bolshevism is being defended by international plutocracy.”

It was Jewish finance, not the Russian, French or Italian proletariat, that kept Bolshevism in power.

Mussolini warned there was a danger the Gentiles would reply to this Jewish revolution with “a pogrom of catastrophic proportions.”

(Mussolini did not hold this line for long. Jewish businessmen later helped finance the Fascist Party, and he largely dropped public anti-Semitism as it had little traction in Italy.)
