Congratulations 🎉 to @wickdchiq on her 2023 Tara Singh Hayer Memorial Award for courage in journalism from the @CJFE. Along with @sabaeitizaz and @atRachelGilmore she coordinated a response to a targeted far-right hate campaign against her and other female journalists
I went to parliament hill for a press conference today as today is Human Rights Day and yesterday was International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime. I almost missed the press conference because security held me up referring to my white coat as “political”, and when asked what about it was political, they couldn’t give me an answer, just that I couldn’t bring my white coat into the building. The @CMA_Docs indeed supports genocide. There are growing numbers of healthcare workers in Canada who agree with me, and we will not remain silent nor complicit in this ongoing genocide.

The Democratic party needs a deep and humble inquiry into why it's no longer seen by a majority of Americans as the party of the working people of the U.S. So far, those who want to just blame everyone else seem to be leading the post-game analysis. Hopefully that will change...
“We women are the protectors.” In footage originally captured by @Refugees, Indigenous activist Esneda Saavedra talks about risking her life to defend her people’s land.
I love how people who advocate for “different viewpoints” and “good ideas can come from anyone” never consider the left pov as having legitimate ideas or worthy of compromise. Compromise only goes one way—to the right
The Christian right’s expectations of women—submission and obedience, labor and servility—have no flexibility; any deviation is a fall from grace into mortal sin. But, warns @mobydickenergy, submission and obedience without question are easily abused.

"The future imagined by AI evangelists is meant only for a small sliver of humanity," @ruha9 writes. "If we listen carefully to the good word of tech evangelists, we can hear the groans of those buried under the rubble of progress." https://t.co/vkF5bmwG58
Thank you @nikiashton for inviting me to the committee hearing on “protection of freedom of expression” as a witness, and for your important questions on anti-Palestinian racism in medical institutions and beyond.
In this excerpt of the @atavist's latest, Mira Ptacin recounts Christopher Pohlhaus' plans to build a fascist training compound in rural Maine. The local journalists, veterans, lumberjacks, and policymakers weren't having it.
