@AgentLouisianaF@pattaconna I mean fair, even with AI something can still be good depending on who is using it and it seems like they are using it properly for edge, im just saying what Ive heard about edge which seems to be the case when code reviewing the commits, Claude isnt committing but it shows signs
@AgentLouisianaF@pattaconna From what i understand xenia edge is also heavily AI, so wouldnt that mean they are 2 sides of the same coin in terms of "vibeslopped"
@camocamo_d@daeartes@Gzalzi@dabadoui@OfficialTeol Code is like a art brush, its part of the art that is a game or program and in many cases your brush can be unique like a brush you made yourself that you use for all your art Coding can be a form of art like making brushes. Music is made of chords, making chords is a form of art
@ThatVidyaGuy@Zengar If they modified the xenia renderer at least to have fixed shaders or optimization then I wouldn't call it rexglue slop but yeah native rendering is the goal. Not saying this project did that just pointing out a hypothetical.
@ASHE_ATTACC I dont use AI but there are 2 forms of AI you need to know about when criticizing programmers, there is inline code suggestions for "AI Assistance" (see image) then there is vibecoding, which works more like if you where to talk to chat gpt "Add a function that does x"
@_JOEZCafe I dont use Ai, but you should see Inline suggestions as its basically a beefed up autocomplete rather then an full Ai agent so you know everything and are still programming normally but from time to time you can press tab to complete a for loop or function header.
@UltimaWolf9@ohiosveryown98@frankybuster_ Okay and? Whats your point? Its not emulated, it may use some xenia code for audio and other xbox sdk calls but that in itself isnt bad or emulation, the xenos renderer was emulated due to how it handled the ringbuffer.
@SomeKirbyFan Sonic Unleashed isnt the only good recomp, other recomps like Blue Dragon exist, Yes low effort AI slop is getting more common but just like AI art we need to learn how to filter through it otherwise your making the statement that art will never be as good at it was before genAi
@Landlady4232@_TrackLord_@Pirat_Nation You're thinking about decomps, recomps are fundamentally different and dont compile to be a byte perfect rom, they compile into exes and often times are completely different in terms of functions since you need the registers as structs
@ArtDonaled I will say though its concerning for the Cyber Security industry. There isnt much of a difference between decompiling a game and decompiling malware. I mean its good for Cyber Security as a whole that AI can just decompile any program, but its going to take out lots of jobs.
@gaboalonso@RealSunlitSpace Emulators like xenia that recompile code are a subset of recomp, part of the process is recompiling, on the other hand there are some emulators that fully emulate a chipset and there for can read a rom without translating it.
Not all recomps are native ports
@RealSunlitSpace Id like to add on to this, decompiling is also a key step of adding mod support and or porting a project like a native recomp like Sonic Unleashed. Often times you only need to decompile function headers and structs/enums but it is still part of the native recomp process
@the_randomizer@ExpandDong15 Recompiling for the most part is already a automated process even without AI, what's difficult is the decompiling and porting part and arguably is actually fun, its like solving a puzzle and is highly rewarding.
@toruzz@Undead_Scout Correlation does not equal causation.
Rexglue and projects to reference like Sonic Unleashed and Reblue are another reason.
Obviously there are a lot of slopcomps releasing but there are legitimate recomps that are coming out that where not Ai assisted.
@blerpnoop Even though I personally like to distance myself from Ai, people on here and bluesky are just sensitive af. Rather then shutting people out of your space by instant blocks why not actually debate or protest against the companies rather then the individuals using the product.
@JajuanC50157 Exactly, I dont use Ai only because I have fun working on my recomp (Viva tip) its like doing a puzzle, like sure you can use ai to assemble it but it ruins the fun. If I where to use Ai it would likely be less buggy if we are being honest. Ai has gotten scarily good as of late.
@SlaveOfSuzumiya Im the creator of retip, the Trouble in Paradise recomp, I dont use Ai, Yes its rexglue but its used properly and I have a native renderer so its not using xenias graphics.
