Absolutely gross antisemitism calling for the ethnic cleansing of the Jewish People from their homeland (denials around language aside).
Twisted and grotesque extremism like this has no place in Canada.
We are grateful to @edmontonpolice for its work investigating the incident at the Israel Pavilion at @EdmHeritageFest & laying charges in this matter. We appreciate the dedication of the investigators involved & will continue to monitor the judicial process as it moves forward.
Last summer, Jewish Edmontonians were celebrating their culture and identity when hateful protesters, chanting antizionist slogans, targeted the Israeli Pavilion, followed by a man slashing a pavilion tent with a knife.
Today, we join @JewishEdmonton in commending the @EdmontonPolice for charging the attacker.
But serious questions remain: Are the criminal remedies available to combat hate-motivated offences being enforced transparently and consistently? And what are authorities doing to deter the public incitement of hatred that is likely to lead to a breach of the peace, which we are seeing on campuses and at festivals from Edmonton to Toronto and across Canada?
That is why we support Justice Minister @SeanFraserMP in advancing his commitment to bring provincial and territorial Justice and Public Safety Ministers together to establish clear guidelines for strong, consistent enforcement of existing and new laws.
This is about more than the safety of one community. As Prime Minister Carney said last June, it is about upholding the Covenant that makes Canada an inclusive democracy.
CIJA Calls on Government of Canada to Hold Palestinian Leaders Accountable for Broken Statehood Commitments
“Canada's joint statement implies that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has broken an explicit commitment on which recognition of Palestinian statehood was predicated: holding elections in 2026 in which Hamas would have no role. Yet the Canadian government offers no indication of what consequences the PA will face, while suggesting that Israel is somehow to blame for a decision made by the PA in cooperation with Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad, both listed by Canada as terrorist entities.
“While the Canadian government pursues punitive measures and sanctions against Israel, it must demonstrate that the Palestinians will also be held accountable for failing to honour their commitments and undermining the prospects for peace.
"Otherwise, the government risks a dangerous double standard that has implications for both the region and for the safety of Canadians as security experts warn that criticism of Israel has been exploited to fuel antisemitism, violence and even acts of terror.”
Flags seen at yesterday's Palestinian rally in Toronto:
- IRGC (listed terrorist entity in Canada)
- Cuba (which imprisons the opposition and bans free speech)
- USSR (which killed millions of its own people in forced famine)
Flags not seen at yesterday's rally:
- Canadian
Hiroshima and Nagasaki killed well over 100,000 people, yet no major human rights organization calls it genocide. Why? Because genocide is about intent: a project to eradicate a people. After Japan surrendered, America occupied it, helped rebuild it, and by 1952, it was an ally.
Compare that to Gaza, where “genocide” is now used freely.
Israel has not committed genocide in Gaza. Facilitating the transfer of food, humanitarian aid, and vaccinations is undeniable proof of that.
Changing the definition of genocide to mean “a lot of death in war” dishonors victims of actual genocides and erases the truth about the war against Hamas.

Following confirmation that the Palestinian Authority (PA) is breaking its commitment of elections in 2026, the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA) released the following statement calling on the Government of Canada to take concrete measures to hold the PA accountable:
“Just over a year ago, Prime Minister Carney recognized Palestinian statehood on the basis of commitments made by the Palestinian Authority, including holding general elections in 2026 and undertaking 'much-needed reforms.'
“Today, the PA has confirmed it has broken its commitment to hold elections in 2026. The PA has also failed to enact reforms, including ending payments to terrorists and the families of those who murdered innocent civilians.
“While Israel faces punitive measures from the Canadian government, the Palestinian Authority has yet to face accountability for failing to deliver on its commitments. This is a dangerous double standard that has implications for both the region and here in Canada where security experts warn that criticism of Israel has been exploited to fuel antisemitism, violence and even acts of terror.
“Prime Minister Carney has said Canadian foreign policy is guided by 'taking the world as it is, not as we wish it to be,' and by the pursuit of influence.
“But influence must be measured by results. If recognizing Palestinian statehood has not secured even the commitments on which that recognition was predicated, Canadians deserve to know what Canada's approach is achieving. Canadians need to know what concrete steps their government will now take to hold the PA accountable and ensure its policies produce meaningful progress toward peace."
Most of this is simply untrue but as usual he goes unchallenged. The government has been little more than a passive bystander as a wave of antisemitism swept the country. He's been congratulated twice by Hamas, he's rewarded terrorism by recognizing "Palestine" as a state before any of his "conditions" were met and he's thrown hundreds of millions more of our tax money down the same black hole that financed hundreds of kms of terror tunnels under Gaza.
Canada has been sending millions of dollars to Palestinians and busy sanctioning Israeli settlers and NGOs. Yet Canada has not sanctioned a single person over the Palestinian Authority's "Pay for Slay," program. My latest. https://t.co/hel3qSNQSO
After a Jewish CBC journalist documented anti-Israel activists outside a Yom Kippur service in Toronto, he is now facing discipline from our public broadcaster EVEN THOUGH journalists are explicitly permitted to write about “lived experiences".
But @CBCNews has no issue with Muslim journalists doing similar, so why is there such a double standard when it comes to Jewish journalists at our public broadcaster?

What children learn in school matters long after the bell rings. Palestinian Authority textbooks used in Gaza teach first-graders words such as “attack” and “martyr,” use intifada deaths in math problems, and illustrate physics with a slingshot aimed at an Israeli soldier.
The debate over Gaza’s schools cannot stop at damaged classrooms. It also has to ask what is being taught inside them.

Since Oct. 7, 2023 @MarkJCarney and the @liberal_party government of Canada has committed $600M to the Palestinians, the people who carried out a terrorist attack against Israel.
In that same time frame, $10M has been allocated for the safety and security of Canadian Jews who are facing exploding Jew hatred in Canada since that attack.
Our government hates us.
No Joke: The Islamic Republic of Iran has been elected by secret ballot to the U.N. nuclear watchdog’s General Committee one week after the same body condemned Iran for non-compliance.
Dracula has been put in charge of the blood bank.

Libels have consequences.
On Yom Kippur, Avi Lewis amplified the genocide lie. That same night, a synagogue in Belleville came under attack.
Canadian security experts have warned about the broader danger: extremists weaponize anger over Israeli policies to fuel antisemitism and terrorist violence in Canada.
And as the @globeandmail makes clear, when Jewish people are collectively portrayed as complicit in atrocities, that rhetoric can become a justification for targeting Jews here at home.
And those with a public platform have a responsibility not to fuel the collective blame that puts Jewish Canadians in the crosshairs.

Joint Statement by CIJA and Jewish Federations of Canada – UIA:
Jewish Canadians are emerging from Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish calendar, to the horrifying images of gunfire outside Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville, where members of the Jewish community had gathered to pray.
We are profoundly grateful to Constable Jeff Smith who acted heroically in risking is own life to protect his fellow Canadians. Our entire community prays for his full and speedy recovery.
The investigation into last night's events is ongoing, but one fact requires no investigation: Jewish Canadians should not need armed police outside their synagogues simply to pray safely.
Canadians cannot accept a future, as now exists in Europe, in which synagogues and Jewish schools can only operate safely behind permanent armed police and soldiers with machine guns.
With Parliament returning this week, governments at every level must turn their attention to the domestic situation and the growing threat of extremist violence here in Canada.
We are calling for immediate action:
· Leaders need to speak clearly: antizionism is driving violence against Canadians. The demonization of Israel offers a green light for extremists who target the Jewish community. This includes when governments single Israel out or hold it to a double-standard. Canadian security officials have repeatedly warned about the potential for international conflicts and grievances to be exploited by extremists at home. Governments must take that threat seriously and confront antisemitism consistently, including when it is expressed through double standards in foreign policy, and the demonization or delegitimization of Israel.
· Convene federal, provincial and territorial attorneys general and public safety ministers to prioritize enforcement, disrupt extremist networks, strengthen intelligence coordination, and ensure those who threaten or perpetrate violence are held accountable.
· We need streamlined processes that enable Jewish institutions to rapidly request and secure paid-duty police officers during periods of elevated attendance and risk. The framework should allow for prioritized and expedited approvals, a designated point of contact within participating police services, and access to sufficient federal funding to help offset paid-duty policing costs.
· Confront extremist ideologies, organizations and foreign state actors that promote, finance, facilitate or direct violence in Canada, including the documented threat posed by the Iranian regime and its proxies.
No more thoughts and prayers. The clock is ticking and our leaders must act before lives are lost.
.@MarkJCarney I urge 🇨🇦 to announce it will not attend the UN's “Durban 25” event for the reasons stated in 2021: “Canada is concerned that the Durban Process continues to be used as a forum for antisemitism. That is why we do not plan to participate...” https://t.co/1VZ2VcU89l
