My dear well-meaning Nigerians,

Our season has finally come.

The time we have waited for, prayed for, and worked for is here. Our principal, Peter Obi, is stepping onto the ballot once again in 2027, not as a politician chasing power, but as a servant ready to lead with the fear of God, compassion, integrity, and character. This is not just another election. This is Nigeria’s opportunity to rise.

Yes, the enemies of a greater Nigeria will throw everything at him. They will dig up old lies, manufacture new ones, and most predictably, they will try to divide us along religious and tribal lines. Do not be surprised. That is their only weapon. But we are wiser now.

Please, I beg you with all my heart: let us be smart. Do not follow them into the gutter. Do not trade insults. Do not allow their provocations to turn brother against brother or sister against sister. Instead, let us educate them with patience and truth. Let us speak about the urgent need for unity, the fight against injustice, the rebuilding of our country, and the total eradication of corruption that has held us hostage for too long.

Let us keep our eyes on the real issue: the bad governance of the Tinubu-APC administration. Let us calmly, relentlessly, and truthfully expose the massive corruption, the reckless spending, the unbearable cost of living, and the failure to secure lives and livelihoods. Share the facts online and offline. Speak to your family, your friends, your market women, your taxi drivers, your students, your pastors and imams. Let every Nigerian hear the truth in plain language.

Nigeria can be fixed.
Nigerians can be the best in the world.
We have the talent. We have the spirit. What we need now is competent leadership that unites us for prosperity.

Peter Obi’s unique style of governance is simple but revolutionary: lead by example, cut the cost of government, live modestly, and put the people first. He has done it before in Anambra. He will do it again for the entire nation. Under his leadership, we will not be divided by tribe or faith; we will be united by purpose, progress, and the shared dream of a Nigeria that works for every single citizen.

So ignore the distractions.
Face the government squarely.
Show the world why Peter Obi is the best choice for 2027 and beyond.

MY SPEECH AT THE NDC NATIONAL CONVENTION

Fellow Nigerians,

It is with immense pleasure and a deep sense of fulfilment that I address you today on this historic occasion of the National Convention of our great party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in Abuja.

Since we joined this party, together with numerous stakeholders, millions of supporters, and well-meaning Nigerians, the NDC has continued to attract quality members and ignite enthusiastic conversations among citizens and observers both at home and abroad. What began as a bold movement is steadily becoming a formidable platform for national renewal.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Nigeria stands at a critical crossroads. The world is undergoing a profound geopolitical shift, yet our nation has been caught unprepared, largely because of poor leadership. Instead of positioning Nigeria to seize emerging opportunities, bad governance has left us bearing the brunt of global changes.

We are witnessing a sharp decline in the quality of life. Insecurity has created widows and orphans across the land. Millions have been displaced from their homes. Investments are fleeing, critical infrastructure is neglected, the education system is collapsing, and harsh economic policies have been imposed on citizens without meaningful safety nets or relief.

Yet Nigeria’s history teaches us that in our most challenging moments, visionary alliances have provided the way forward. In 1954, a historic partnership was formed between the Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU), led by Aminu Kano and the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC), led by Nnamdi Azikiwe to achieve national unity.

Again, in 1960, against steep odds, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe’s National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) formed a coalition with the Northern People’s Congress (NPC) to birth our independence.

In the Second Republic, the alliance between Shehu Shagari and Alex Ekwueme under the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) helped restore civilian rule and national unity after years of military dictatorship.

It is therefore with great sense of unity and solidarity, that as a loyal party member, I support the decision to zone the presidential ticket of the NDC to the South, so that it allows the region to complete its turn in producing national leadership.

This represents a true opportunity for true national healing. We shall work in abidance with the party’s agreement to ensure fairness and federal character in all ramifications.

This party shall also ensure to change the way things are done today by prioritising leadership without ethnic jingoism and religious favouritism.

The leadership standard we shall set will therefore restore Nigeria’s dignity and will guarantee that our citizens at home and the diaspora will be treated with respect and dignity.

Lastly, we can only achieve that by continuing to mobilise to register with INEC to vote, and the NDC to belong to this noble cause. Please register, today.

What exactly is happening to the movement once built around Peter Obi?

In a stunning and deeply controversial announcement, a group claiming authority over the movement says the #Obidient Movement has now been dissolved, rebranded, and stripped of Obi himself, alongside his close ally Yunusa Tanko and the entire post-2023 leadership structure.

Their accusation? That the movement was hijacked for “personal advantage,” “private gain,” and what they dramatically describe as “political prostitution.”

The new group now calls itself the #OBEDIENT Movement, insisting it no longer has ties to Obi, the Labour Party, or any presidential candidate ahead of 2027.

But this raises explosive questions. Who exactly owns a political movement born organically on the streets and online? Can a movement built around one man suddenly expel the very symbol that gave it life? Or are Nigerians witnessing something darker ' infiltration, sabotage, fragmentation… perhaps even a coordinated attempt to weaken one of the country’s most formidable opposition political bases ahead of 2027?

And perhaps the biggest question of all:

If the Obidient Movement itself is now at war over identity, leadership and loyalty, what does that mean for the future political relevance of Peter Obi himself?

2027 POLLS: OBIDIENT MOVEMENT REBRANDS, SACKS PETER OBI, YUNUSA

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Nigerian political space came under more tension on Thursday with the immediate disbandment of the #Obidient Movement and expulsion of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 election, Peter Obi; one his disciples, Yunusa Tanko and all other persons appointed under the unauthorised leadership structure that emerged after the 2023 elections.

Those behind the sacking premised the decision on political prostitution and its misuse for personal advantage and private gains.

Consequently, the organisation has been rebranded to the #OBEDIENT Movement, to disengage it from Obi and his loyalists.

Several calls, SMS and WhatsApp messages to Obi and Yunusa were not replied.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja to unveil the organisation, the International Coordinator of the #OBEDIENT Movement, Dr Barry Avotu Johnson, clarified that it has not yet adopted any presidential candidate for 2027 and has ceased to have any dealings with Labour Party.

According to him, the rebranding was necessary because after the 2023 elections, the original vision and founding ideals of the #Obidient Movement were no longer adequately represented by those who assumed control of its structure.

AN OPEN LETTER TO PETER OBI

Dear Mr. Obi,
I do not know you personally. But I supported you in 2023, and precisely because I did, I am writing this letter — not to flatter you, but to tell you some hard truths that your inner circle either cannot see or will not say.

Let me begin with 2023. You were robbed. Every serious observer knows it. But the moment you declined to fight that stolen mandate with the full force it deserved — the moment you allowed a known drug suspect to walk away with the presidency of Nigeria without the kind of sustained, unrelenting legal and moral war that the theft demanded — you sent a signal to millions of your supporters that your fight had limits. Nice men do not become president. Nice men finish last. Nice men get trampled. And in Nigerian politics — where your opponent is not merely a political adversary but a man with a documented narcotics history, a convicted money launderer on his payroll, and thirteen billion dollars in contracts flowing to that same launderer — niceness is not a virtue. It is a liability.
Now here you are again. You have moved from the ADC to the NDC, calling on members to avoid litigation and focus on national development.  Mr. Obi, Nigeria is burning and you are counselling civility. Your supporters are watching — and many of us are asking whether the man we believed in has the stomach for this fight.

Let me be specific about what I mean, because vagueness is the refuge of men who do not want to offend. I am talking about Gilbert Chagoury. A Lebanese-Nigerian businessman who received his Nigerian passport courtesy of the late Sani Abacha. A man with a Swiss money laundering conviction on his record. A man the United States denied a visa on terrorism-related grounds. A man who entered into a deferred prosecution agreement with the United States Department of Justice. And this same man — this man — has received approximately thirteen billion dollars in Nigerian government contracts under the Tinubu administration, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and associated port developments, awarded without competitive tender. Seyi Tinubu sits on the board of a Chagoury-linked entity. The conflicts of interest are not subtle. They are brazen.
Yet you say nothing. Your silence is deafening, Mr. Obi — and silence in the face of documented corruption is not neutrality. It is complicity by omission. Millions of potential voters are noticing. I am not alone in wondering what your silence means. Are you compromised? Are you afraid? Or do you simply not understand that presidential campaigns are not book clubs — they are battles, and battles require combatants?

You must make a major public address — not a tweet, not a press release from a spokesman — a real speech, on camera, before the Nigerian people, confronting the Chagoury scandal directly and by name. Lay out the facts. Demand accountability. Call for a reversal of contracts awarded without due process. Do it without hedging, without diplomatic language, and without worrying about whom it offends. If Tinubu is the gangster you know him to be, then treat him accordingly: you take no prisoners, you go after his money, you expose his launderers, you challenge his fabricated biography, and you do it loud enough that no Nigerian — north or south, Igbo or Yoruba or Hausa — can pretend they did not hear you.

I must also address something closer to your own community. There is a faction within Igbo political circles whose interests are not aligned with yours and never were. They are using you — your name, your credibility, your following — while quietly hedging their bets elsewhere. You know who they are. Your political alignments have continued to shift ahead of the next general election  and each shift costs you credibility with ordinary voters who are tired of watching opposition politicians rearrange deck chairs while Tinubu steers the ship toward the rocks. Distance yourself from those who are holding your campaign hostage to their own factional interests. Do it publicly and do it now, before they do more damage.

You said recently that subsidy is organised crime and that you would not allow any form of criminality as president.  Good. But words without action are just more noise in a country already drowning in noise. Put the same ferocity you bring to talking about fuel subsidy into confronting the man who embodies everything wrong with Nigerian governance. Stop performing presidential temperament and start demonstrating presidential courage. Those are very different things.

Your supporters are not a fan base. They are not there to stream your appearances and applaud your measured statements. They gave you their trust in 2023 at enormous personal cost — many of them young Nigerians who believed for the first time that their vote could mean something. Do not take that trust for granted. Do not mistake their patience for unlimited loyalty. If you continue to campaign like a man running for chairman of a university senate rather than the presidency of Africa’s largest nation, you will lose — and you will deserve to lose.

Nigeria does not need another careful man. Nigeria needs a fighter. Either put on your fighting gloves, go after Tinubu’s corruption with everything you have, and give this country the battle it deserves — or step aside and let another leader from the Igbo community who has the will and the fire take your place.

The choice is yours. But it must be made now. Not next month. Not after the next consultation. Now.

Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso do not have any problem with President Tinubu or his bad administration. Their actions have proven that they are only concerned about their personal and political interests, people need to understand this.

Kwankwaso on the other hand has met with President Tinubu several times and have considered joining the APC before aligning with the ADC.
