Siyad Barre ❤️ a leader people loved to hate simply because he pushed hard for Somali women’s education and independence. My grandmother used to start every morning with this song, a reminder of a time when a government actually invested in its citizens. They believed in her, sent her on a scholarship to Italy, where she became a lawyer and later a human rights lawyer something that feels almost impossible under today’s collapse. Now, the illiteracy rate is exploding, opportunities are disappearing, and the current failed government still has the audacity to open its mouth. They can’t even deliver basic education, yet they want to compare themselves to an era that actually built people’s futures.
