There is a lot at stake.

There are 3 candidates running to be president. One of them has conducted himself with a sense of entitlement to the position & disparaged the entire process. His platform will eviscerate #YoungLawyers & return @NigBarAssoc
into the pockets of a discredited cabal seeking to make it hostage to backward looking ideas.

In my view, @MuyiwaAkinboro is unelectable. Having failed in his ill-advised gambit to get the High Court of Oyo State to order his installation as the Paramount Ruler of @NigBarAssoc, he should simply pack it in & accept that this is beyond him at this time. But it will be impossible even in future to forget what he sought to manufacture & the belligerent arrogance of it all.

Gratefully, @OmoyemiAkangbe & @MrsBBold are 2 eminently qualified candidates. They offer credible options to the association.

Yemi, #LOA, previously served with distinction & grace as Chair of my own branch, @NbaLagosBranch. He has run an energetic campaign & articulates a clear vision for the NBA that shows respect for the members & pathways for investment in the future. In any other cycle, Yemi would probably be my candidate. Whatever happens in this round, my admiration & respect for him has been enormously enhanced. That is assured.

The #PayOff line in the @Heineken advert is that it gets to places that other beers do not get to. About Mrs. #BBold, I'd say her campaign has reached places that others did not know about & in ways that have shown boundless energy, resilience, imagination.

She has survived machinations that would have sunk most ambitions & built a campaign organization that excites a whole never generation of lawyers across generations & genders. Over the course of the campaign, she has shown adaptability, refined her messaging & shown true grit, all essential skills in leadership.

Mrs. #BBold's journey is historic. I am happy to line up in support of her as the person best placed to lead @NigBarAssoc in 2026-28 & best placed to defend the rights of #YoungLawyers to a say in their association & to professional growth with dignity.

As against the adulatory descriptions of IBB such as “evil genius” and “Maradona”, Babangida in his book “A Journey in Service” portrayed himself as a faint-hearted soldier who could not go against the wishes of his lieutenants to avoid a bloody coup.

This is the same soldier who quelled the Dimka coup in 1976, engineered the overthrow of Shagari administration in 1983, enthroned Buhari as head of state and in 1985 staged a coup against the same Buhari.

I think IBB initially had no interest in writing a memoir. He was clearly inspired by the fact that he had outlived most of the actors who helped his regime annull the June 12 presidential election.

From Abacha (who led the anti-June 12 forces), Augustus Aikhomu (who directed his press secretary Nduka Irabor to announce June 12 annulment without IBB’s knowledge), Arthur Nzeribe (whose unregistered Association from Better Nigeria secured a court order to stop the election), Justice Dahiru Saleh (who annulled the election) to Attorney-General of the Federation Clement Akpambo (who insisted that the illegal order must be respected), are all dead.

I wonder why a military dictator who executed his close friend and best man at his wedding, Mamman Vatsa, for allegedly planning a coup, executed Gideon Okar after a failed coup, locked up 13 political godfathers, including his boss Maj-General Shehu Musa Yar'Adua, for hijacking NRC and SDP primaries, failed to act when anti-June 12 forces truncated the transition.

The most charitable that can be said of Kayode Egbetokun is that he's a political IG of @PoliceNG. For most of his working life, he was ADC to @officialABAT. As IGP, he now sees himself as head of the uniformed, armed wing of @officialABAT's ruling party
