In 12 years of elected office on Long Island, I recall Kirsten Gillibrand coming to my district ONCE for a purpose other than to fundraise. At no point in my life, past, present, or future, will I (or any other Long Islander for that matter) be lectured about “Long Island Roots” by that lazy, absentee, empty chair, empty suit, MIA Senator.
During Brad’s (unsuccessful) run for mayor, he went on an Orthodox Jewish radio show and bragged about investing in Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons manufacturer. Then, after facing backlash, he blamed the decision on his staff.
@bradlander, you had the chance to take a stand when you were in office and you cowered. Worse, you lied about it. Worse yet, you blamed your staff.
New Yorkers have zero reason to believe you’d be any different in Congress.
Totally agree! Gotta give it to you- it’s impressive how you forced the mayor to break his commitment to leading progressive & chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. He does whatever you want! We haven’t seen this type of raw political power over a NYC mayor since Tweed!
By now, all of us know - nothing @NYCMayor does is a shock, but some actions are unexpected…until you connect dots. Mayor Mamdani going after Latinos is just the latest.
Looks like the mayor forgot about the importance of the politics of addition…
This is more than just canceling a reception- it’s a new mayor pushing back on ALL Latino leadership, for any slights from the mayors race, previous campaigns and with bonus points for the mayor’s timely reaction to the Latino backlash he received for breaking a promise to endorse @RepEspaillat.
Latinos are NOT monolithic, but attack one Latino community, be prepared for them to unite against you.
Mamdani has constantly attempted to bring younger leadership, with his beliefs across all communities, policies, and city organizations. This just another instance of the same, so watch who rises from younger generations - they will more likely echo Mamdani..not current leadership.
The recent bike ride Mamdani took during the Israel Day parade hasn’t faded away, so cancel a Latino community leadership event at Gracie Mansion, and some view it through the same lens….
Maybe by March 2027, the Mayor will try to cancel the St. Patrick’s day parade for political issues he causes, and his spin will include a quote that he never should have joined the March 2026 parade.
We are still early in the mayor’s first year of parades. Who knows what NYC parades will look like 3 years from now- after his abysmal budget messaging maybe he plans to eliminate parade overtime budgets for @NYPDnews@FDNY @EMS @NYCSanitation or even find ways to raise the costs organizations pay the city for permits or other costs associated with any permit- thus making events that are the fabric of NY cost prohibitive to continue.

Brooklyn Borough President @ReynosoBrooklyn is doing an incredible job in this debate. Solid substantive answers. Demonstrating real experience, deep roots in the community tonight. This race shouldn't be close. @ny1#NY1Debate
New: Mamdani's commitment to back Rep. Adriano Espaillat for reelection was at first so ironclad they shook hands on it last summer, Rep. Nydia Velázquez tells me.
Mamdani broke his promise last week by endorsing Espaillat's democratic socialist opponent. https://t.co/Ub8AkQkClW
I get that many politicians are sociopaths and justify lying to everyone for the “greater good”. It’s refreshing that Dan is normal. By lying in this video Brad shows his desperate need for justification & for this job (a fallback after not getting any of the jobs he wanted).
Election results haven’t started rolling in yet, but legends @Bob_Shrum and Sal Russo already had plenty to say about California and races nationwide on “2WAY Tonight.”
We dug into:
The Palisades fire and what it reveals about governance under Karen Bass, and how voters are processing the lingering fallout.
Graham Platner’s scrutiny in Washington, as Democratic senators sidestep questions about his past amid mounting questions around his campaign.
And AIPAC funding and the tensions around it, in a political landscape that looks very different from its once-stable bipartisan backing.
Then on “Capital Intel,” @Mark_Penn joined me to break down the latest @HarrisXdata polling.
Key findings: Trump’s approval holds steady at 43%, with broad support on Iran policy.

“Those that choose or want to parachute in, after the men and women of this city, the working men and women of the city, have built our neighborhood. We're gonna send them back home packing wherever they came from,” Espaillat says
Great article by @ccampy.
Some folks don't understand how important @ReElectNydia, @EspaillatNY, and @ReynosoBrooklyn are to Latinos in New York and across the country. It isn't about having Spanish surnames. It's about decades of service, leadership, and breaking barriers as pioneers for our communities. These are folks that made history.
What's ironic is that they helped legitimize and endorse @nycmayor, and now he's actively helping dismantle the political legacy they built by backing candidates with little experience, shallow community roots, and no record of public service comparable to those who came before them.
No amount of social media hype, viral videos, or cute TikToks can substitute for experience, accomplishment, and a lifetime of service.
$268 billion for the NYS budget and $127 billion for the NYC government. Folks, we have a spending problem. Businesses and people are moving to other states with lower taxes and spending. The top 1% pay almost 50% of all income tax revenue for NYS and NYC. You can't tax your way out of this. Where are the fiscally responsible people? Silly slogans and shouting 'tax the rich' aren't a strategy. Childish talk for the rabid base.
Tune in this Sunday morning to @CBSNewYork to catch @OBrienMurray and me on #ThePoint with @MKramerTV —exciting conversations on national, state, and local politics. The show starts at 11:30 am with @StevenFulop of the Partnership for NYC.
The DSA is America's Communist Party. Call it whatever you want. "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." They usurped the role of the county committees. They have taken over City Hall. Once they control judicial screenings, today's party leaders will realize they should have opened primaries. By then, it'll be too late. #OpenPrimaries.
