Every single source from multiple countries (not just Iran) keeps producing the same exact points.
At some point, the probability is that it’s just true.
It’s the actual, stated, explicit position of every single one of my political opponents that there’s something called, “just asking questions,” which is when you think out loud about things without taking a strong extremist position on them, and they all believe that this is self-evidently bad and cowardly and stupid.
We do not merely disagree about what to think. We disagree about the very act of thinking itself. We disagree about the structure, legitimacy, and value of entire strains of discourse.
We’re literally playing different sports at the same time on the same field.
If you invest in private companies, you might not see anything for 10-20 years other than “paper gains.” And it could go to 0. Maybe that’s not stressful to you, as you must be fabulously wealthy, but tying up cash for decades is not easy street for mere mortals like me.
“We are deeply shocked and concerned by the scenes that we’ve seen today on our streets across the six counties, on the island of Ireland. We abhor - and strongly condemn - all forms of political violence. Political violence never gets you anywhere”
The crazy thing about this is that it’s true from both directions. That is to say, capitalism is so amazing, creates so much prosperity, that food is more widely available and cheaper than it’s ever been in human history. It has just literally never been easier to get cheap calories.
But then on the other hand, we actually do have a welfare state that provides the poorest Americans with vouchers for food far in excess of what they need to sustain life.
Literally nothing about the claim, in other words, it’s true. It fails from both directions.
