I think you're confusing daily fantasy sports with the original fantasy football.

In the former, it's essentially gambling, just a way around age limits, usually done on some site that takes a cut. In the latter, just friends.

Vegas doesn't get a cut, neither does the NFL (beyond the increased viewership).

I'm not talking about sports betting, though, honestly, I personally don't see an issue with it (my issues are with NFL hypocrisy).

My fantasy rooting interests have zero impact on the actual game play. So I can't see how there's any negative at all.

I can't disagree more.

I've seen plenty of seasons w/o and w/fantasy. In seasons w/o, I watch my team, I'll watch some big games. In seasons with, I'm much more motivated to watch some random game in addition to the above. Fantasy generates more interest, 1/2
