WHO WR Dr. @WRAbdoulaye & team hosted a press conference ahead of @OMS_STP 50th anniversary in 🇸🇹, to be celebrated June 9. Dr. Diarra emphasized the crucial role of media as trusted partners in empowering communities w/ info & driving positive public health changes.
Government leadership, community ownership, and steadfast support from @WHO and international and local partners are the pillars of the response to the latest #Ebola outbreak in #DRC.
I stood side by side with DRC Minister of Health @rogerkamba and Minister of Communications @PatrickMuyaya at a press conference in Bunia, the capital of Ituri Province, where most cases of Ebola caused by the Bundibugyo virus have been reported.
DRC has extensive experience in containing and ending Ebola outbreaks and can turn the tide on the current emergency with sustained action and support.

With support from Japan & @OMS_STP, São Tomé and Príncipe is advancing to the final phase of eliminating lymphatic filariasis. The project includes epidemiological surveillance, validation dossier preparation, and health system strengthening, toward international validation.

PHC training concluded in Mé-Zóchi district, strengthening capacities on WHO protocols for diabetes, asthma, COPD & early cancer detection. Over 100 health workers were trained across São Tomé. Supporting national NCD and cancer strategies launched in April.

The Ministry of Health, with @OMS_STP support, trains health care professionals on WHO protocols for #NCDs, covering Diabetes, Asthma, COPD & early cancer detection. This training supports implementation of newly adopted national NCD & cancer strategies.
MBS study in São Tomé and Príncipe 🇸🇹, supported by WHO and the @GlobalFund, comes as malaria cases rise, highlighting gaps in risk perception and prevention. Findings will inform stronger awareness campaigns and promote consistent use of mosquito nets to curb transmission.

#AfricanImmunizationWeek has officially started in 🇸🇹. Launched yesterday 29 April in Angolares, the campaign runs up to 6 May, with a focus on the districts of Água Grande, Mé‑Zóchi &Caué, to strengthen routine immunization, identify zero‑dose children & protect all generations.
