It’s official. I have secured a permanent B5 rotational OT post! Just 3 days after my interview & I was practicing as a B5 & quickly had to get used to introducing myself as an OT rather than a TA. 2020 you have been a tough one but even you couldn’t stop me!!!🤩✅🎉💚
So many of us working in #NHS hospitals are so exhausted. Staffing is low, many of us are sick, movement within hospitals is extortionate. We can’t just manifest the idea that ‘the NHS is coping’. We’re so tired. #DowningStreetBriefing
I have recently started my rotation in Critical Care, Cardiology & Surgery. Time on ICU at present is limited & the OT role not yet fully developed in our team. Are there any OTs that can offer more insight into our role on ICU?
The critical care OTs have designed this rehabilitation washable 'pillow'(approved by infection prevention team)! It gives patients the chance to maintain their fine dexterity during their recovery period. The aim is for earlier independence with personal care, great creation!
A Brazilian nurses idea to comfort isolated #COVID19 patients in ICU:
2 dispo gloves tied & full of hot water simulating human contact “this hot water glove improves patient's perfusion & I hope the patient feels like someone is holding his hand” (nurse Melo)
Being the only one out of your friendship group who is physically going into work means you walk out of work with 600+ notifications on your phone and no headspace to read them all 😩🤣🤦🏼♀️
As OTs, we need to be conscious of home safety but also feasible recommendations for clients. A client told me yday that when she was given her power w/c she was told by the OT to rearrange/renovate basically her whole kitchen & bedroom...in her rental appt to accommodate her w/c
