We will present the platframe and the Catalog for Digital Discomfort developed as part of the Workshop on Obfuscation at the next session of The Hmm's event series.
Join to learn about all five platforms showcased on the 23rd of June 20.00 CEST.

We concluded the Workshop with the final gathering of the Study Group! We thank all contributors and participants for the inspiring sessions! For the coming times, the platframe will serve as an archive. We will soon upload the remaining videos onto the platframe! Stay tuned!
"I wish I had a more optimistic way of talking about resistance — it is important to recognise that the structures in place make it impossible to resist the use of these systems, unless we talk about how these systems are not inevitable" @VidushiMarda

@jtmuehlberg@mikarv@bigbluebutton We thought about accessibility and we could have done better. We also tried to explore more radical notions than inclusivity and sustainability that expansionist dominant platforms ride on. We will take these issues into our reflections and hopefully others will, too.
The talk between @harryhalpin and @yisiliu of @realmaskbook has started at the @ObfuscationWS!
This talk will overview the need to use encryption and metadata protection, and how lots of small incentivized nodes can be harnessed by cryptoeconomics!

In the session on 'Face-veillance' at @ObfuscationWS and led to ask: have we reached a moment of sedimented carceral socio-technical infrastructure necessitating abolition or are we in a presentist moment where the infrastructure is still in the process of becoming? #Luddism🤔
Cheers to @ObfuscationWS and the organizers for putting on a unique and thoughtful workshop! I love the platframe - it shows the immense possibilities if we commit to building our own tools instead of working around the limitations and harmful assumptions of dominant ones.
@lilianedwards@mikarv@bigbluebutton oi, part of it is that we have been receiving a lot of traffic, and it is not optimized for mobile operating systems like iOS. recommend desktop and chromium based browsers.
Faceveillance
What can different projects on the covering or redesignation of the face as forms of politics teach us in resisting and contesting the increasing use of facial recognition in identifying people & managing populations?

As the @ObfuscationWS blossoms into an intentional, radical achievement today I would like to thank @EroBalsa for his tireless work to make it happen. It feels like the most interesting arts opening/convening I've been to-- all using activist open-source tools & platforms

Next:"Public Interest Technologies for the ML Age",
@hiddenmarkov & @bekah_overdorf brought together researchers using obfuscation in ML for contestation, subversion, counter-optimization and exposure of harms.
@carmelatroncoso Bettina Berendt @KendraSerra and @nickmvincent#WoO3
What's in a name, asks @bekah_overdorf as she seeks for an overarching title for these proposals for contestation of ML in the public interest?

"We have a mascot!" 😛
Perhaps of interest for those who just attended the great opening session @ObfuscationWS: @jilltoh@alex_giann and me are exploring the role of data rights as potential obfuscation tools...
