The level of environmental degradation in Abuja is alarming. Take the case of this unscrupulous operator caught offloading sewage off the Paradise Estate Road. The area adjoins several housing estates. Untreated sewage poses health risks. Little wonder that water borne diseases such as cholera and dysentry are on the increase. As a result of little or no supervision, operators in the waste disposal sector and even individuals have turned this sprawling land into an illegal landfill. The authorities of the FCT and Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) need to up their supervisor to minimise indiscriminate dumping of solid and liquid waste. Meanwhile, the operator of this sewage truck with registration number ABC 481 XJ needs to be identified and visited with the full weight of the law.

My Caucasian brother-in-law had an amputated leg. He died after I had already become a priest. I don’t recall ever going to church with him whenever, as kids, we went on holidays to my sister who was married to him. I started offering Holy Masses for him after his death. Then one day I saw him in a dream, wearing shorts with his leg no longer amputated. He was smiling and saying to me, “Everything is fine, everything is fine.” I took it as a sign that God had heard my prayers for his soul.

Praying for the dead is an act of charity and a way of remembering those we loved.

A 60-year-old man went to a doctor for a check-up. The doctor told him, "You're in terrific shape. There's nothing wrong with you. Why, you might live forever; you have the body of a 35-year-old. By the way, how old was your father when he died?"

The 60-year-old responded,
"Did I say he was dead?"

The doctor was surprised and asked, "How old is he and is he very active?"

The 60-year-old responded, "Well, he is 82 years old and he still goes skiing three times a season and surfing three times a week during the summer."

The doctor couldn't believe it! So he said, "Well, how old was your grandfather when he died?"

The 60-year-old responded again,
"Did I say he was dead?"

The doctor was astonished. He said, "You mean to tell me you are 60 years old and both your father and your grandfather are alive? Is your grandfather very active?"

The 60-year-old said, "He goes skiing at least once a season and surfing once a week during the summer. Not only that," said the patient, "my grandfather is 106 years old, and next week he is getting married again."

The doctor said, "At 106 years why on earth would your grandfather want to get married?"

His patient looked up at the doctor and said,
