Recent events with #USDC have gotten us thinking about different decentralized stablecoins on the market. Let's explore how #TUSD, #LUSD and #DAI works and its role in the crypto ecosystem.

Here is a round up good news related to the banking issues so far:

-An SIVB wire sent Thursday did process and landed in their account Sat. (Same cut off date as Circle started theirs)

-FRC wires from Friday have still been landing (FRC was the other cali regional bank folks have been worried about)

-Multiple companies reporting they've got operational lines of credit to make payroll this week

-Early reports that SIVB could expect as much as 50% advanced dividend paid out at start of this week the rest of balances to follow

-Yellen says "No bailout for bank execs/investors" but that "depositors do not need to worry about losing access to their money" suggesting depositors *will* be made whole

-A lot of VCs extending at cost payroll loans to startups to keep them running until SIVB money hits, keeping them away from aggressive lenders.

-A few California based charities and NGOs that banked with SIVB have had huge community donation outreach helping them to keep the lights on next week.

-Circle's outbound wire for USDC cash backing, was initiated Thursday, before the 8AM PST Friday cutoff by FDIC suggesting it will be honored.

-Rumors are multiple big banks, and even some of the "mega-regionals" have been interested in bidding on SIVB.

-SIVB's investment arm seems healthy and is attempting to purchase itself out from the parent company and be a stand alone spinoff. This means some startups won't face calls on venture debt or have their equity sold to questionable third-parties.

-Multiple neobanks have worked through the weekend to onboard companies and extend them lines of credit at cost to themselves.

-Many SIVB employees have continued to work and communicate with their clients, even when facing their own uncertainty.

-Current regs suggest that insider stock sales and bonuses to execs at SIVB will be subject to clawbacks (like in any regular bankruptcy) if needed to pay out depositors.

There is a lot of doom and gloom out there. Some merited, some not.

But, there is also a lot of good developments taking place and some real moments of humanity.

I post a lot of the negative stuff because I like to evaluate risk - but I thought this was worth a small round up of the good developments given the progress we're seeing.

We may end up dodging a pretty big economic bullet here.

Yeah man crypto is the future, let me bring you up to speed

First, TerraUSD collapsed, a massive Ponzi scheme where investors were promised 20% APR on their USD ($20B in UST and $40B in LUNA wiped out)

This caused the largest crypto hedge fund to go insolvent due to excessive leverage, 3AC ($3B AUM wiped out)

3AC borrowed funds from all the largest crypto lenders, each of who went insolvent after bank runs inevitably occurred, causing a market wide credit crunch

Celsius ($12B AUM, $1.2B deficit), Voyager ($1.6B AUM, ~$670M default), BlockFi ($3.9B AUM, $400M revolving credit)

Voyager and BlockFi were bailed out by FTX/Alameda, but ah turns out they were complete fraud too

With $10B of customer funds siphoned from FTX to cover Alameda’s losses, a bank run took place, creating a second contagion wave, leaving Voyager/BlockFi rekt again

Genesis Lending, under the DCG conglomerate, also went bankrupt due to Alameda/FTX exposure ($3B shortfall)

Gemini was lending $900M in customer funds to Genesis, so they and their customers inevitably got wrapped in the mess too

No doubt TradFi is involved in this too, with the collapse of two banks that were key banking partners for crypto

Silvergate (FTX’s banking partner and ran an payment network for crypto exchanges) experienced a bank run and collapsed after losing $1B on bonds

While SVB (Circle’s banking partner for USDC and most tech startups) experienced a bank run and collapsed after losing $1.8B on bonds

Not looking too good for Signature Bank either, which runs the ‘other’ bank payment network for crypto exchanges

Can’t forget the SEC trying to strongarm the industry from shutting down Kraken’s staking product to calling Paxos’ stablecoins a security and shutting down BUSD, and much more

Various banking regulators also strongarming banks into refusing to onboard crypto companies as clients, forcing them overseas and to use sketchy counterparts
