Youth representatives and policymakers from across the #WesternBalkansSix gathered in #Tivat for the Mid-Term Review Conference on Disinformation and Media Literacy ⏭️ organised by RCC’s EU-funded #WBYL2 project

From skills in using AI tools, to media literacy manuals, influencer codes of conduct, journalist guidelines, and youth participation in media, the Youth Policy Lab is moving from ideas to action 👉🏻 because media literacy is more than spotting fake news ⏭️ it’s about giving young people the tools, confidence and space to take part in public life.

RCC Secretary General @amer_kap during his keynote speech “Regional Cooperation and the Road to EU Integration,” following the @adriafuture2026 opening in #Tivat today said “If EU membership is our main goal, and it is, then the road to Brussels leads through your neighbour’s yard. Regional cooperation is not a box to tick, it is a matter of strategic self-interest and a condition for credible accession,”

RCC SG also underlined that the region’s competitiveness and attractiveness for investment will depend on its ability to deliver concrete results, from mobility and digital integration to green transition and market integration, rather than declarations alone.

We’ll also hold the Mid-Term Review Conference of the Youth Policy Lab on Disinformation and Media Literacy, highlighting progress in strengthening digital resilience and advancing media literacy.

🕵🏻‍♂️ This week the RCC’s EU-funded #WesternBalkansYouthLab project launched the new Policy Lab on Media Literacy & Disinformation in Tirana.

🕵🏻‍♀️ Three days, dozens of young people, and a mission: fight fake news, boost media literacy, and shape real policies across the #WB6.

🔥 Youth belongs at the core of regional growth. ⏭️ as the key message from today’s #FiresideTalk organised by RCC’s EU-funded WBYL2, in #Tirana.

In a room full of energy and ideas, the panel brought together: @DanijelaGacevic, RCC’s Head of Programme Department, Ritva Heikkinen, Head of Cooperation @EUinAlbania, Niklas Strom Ambassador @SwedeninAL , @LiraPipa @MtksGovAL and Kreshnik Loka Deputy SG @RYCOwb, moderated by @OgiMarkovic7 , opening an honest dialogue with young people on their role in shaping the #GrowthPlan and Common Regional Market.

They all agreed on one thing: youth are not a footnote, they are the engine. Every policy, every decision, every regional step forward impacts young people first.
This region grows when young people lead.

Across the #WesternBalkansSix, young people have driven substantial progress on the Green Agenda through a wide range of initiatives:
🌿 Green Seat Manual and methodology developed
💬 Youth Dialogues held on the Green Agenda and Eco Bonton.
📊 Gap Analysis produced
🌎 Youth Climate Council framework and methodology established.
📘 Practical Guide and workshops empowered youth to influence green policies.
