As a survivor of kidnapping and banditry, I can tell you that these criminals believe that no matter how much they take from you, you will eventually work and earn it back after your release.
Let me use myself as an example. After my family paid the ₦15 million ransom they demanded, along with other items worth over ₦600,000, they still weren't satisfied. They continued demanding more money and eventually asked for ₦55 million. They even told my mother to sell her house and car to raise the money.
Because my family rented a vehicle to deliver the ransom and other requested items, the kidnappers assumed we owned the car and were wealthy. They kept insisting that we sell all our properties and hand over the proceeds to them.
Omo, it was a terrible ordeal. The fear, pressure, and emotional torture were overwhelming. Watching my family struggle to meet their endless demands was heartbreaking.
One painful reality is that they often target ordinary and struggling people like us because we are easier to capture than the elites, who usually have better security and protection.
This is why we cannot continue to stay silent. Kidnapping and banditry have destroyed countless lives, families, and dreams across Nigeria. We need to raise our voices, stand together as a nation, and demand urgent action against insecurity.
Today it may be someone else's family. Tomorrow it could be yours. Enough is enough. 💔🇳🇬🙏🏽
I don’t have money to offer but I will report till your helper sees it
I will pray for you too, sending you lots of love, hugs and and prayers in this difficult situation 🥹🙏❤️

Yoruba Ronu, do you know that your fellow Yoruba people were kidnapped , a mother with her child on her back, teachers, and poor school children 💔💔?
Now one of the teachers beheaded 💔💔💔💔💔
It has been three days now, yet your “YORUBA PRESIDENT” has not said a word.
This can’t continue.
Tinubu has to resign now 😭😭
I’ve spent the past couple of weeks building Looters: a public archive of Nigerian political corruption since the 1990s.

A drunk policeman shot me at a checkpoint in 2011.
The bullet tore through my car, through my right hand.
I lost my career as an animator. My marriage cracked. My mind still bleeds.
The twist?
I sued the Nigeria Police. Won in 2015.
Judge said: "Pay his medical bills."
10 years later. Zero naira.
I face permanent disability without help.

The last few months has been a tough and excruciating battle with my life.
I am sure I have had to suffer more pains than the guy at the cross who asked Jesus for a place in his kingdom.
For those who don't already know, I have a lump on my throat and it has grown to the point where it's now capable of eating my own blood.
The lump, according to the series of scans I have done is called Lymphoma.
In simpler terms, I have been battling Lymphoma.
I have gone days where I couldn’t talk, days where I couldn’t move my body from the bed for the whole day, nights where I have had my life flash before my eyes just because I chose to pee, days where I have had constant blurry visions where I couldn’t see things or anyone clearly, this explains why I have stayed off Facebook because I can’t see for long.
I am very weak. It’s the first thing you’d notice when you see me. I am being assisted to walk as I cannot walk on my own. In two months, I have fallen at different places that have sometimes resulted into injuries. How I am still alive, I do not understand it yet. The weakness is very evidenced in my voice, it has been the weakest it has ever been and my speech has become somehow incoherent. When I talk for over 30 seconds, I begin to gasp for air. I am sure some of those who have called me during this period will understand this better.
I have emaciated a lot. I don’t even look like me anymore.
I have been receiving treatment at the teaching hospital here in Uyo. I am scheduled for a biopsy soon, but I have to wait another week cus the hospital decided to shut down the hospital and send patients home after an issue that occurred at the hospital entrance yesterday.
For those who don’t know, a biopsy is done to check if a lump is cancerous or not. So a mini surgery is required as they’ll have to cut a part of my throat to remove the small lump they need for the biopsy.
The result of what the biopsy would be scares me a bit. First, because I don’t have the energy to go through cancer treatment after this horrible last two/three months. I really hope it’s not cancer so I can begin to prepare my mind for a major surgery instead.
My family and friends have been supportive financially, emotionally, morally during this period. But I’ll be needing your help and support as they can’t do it alone. The biopsy and a possible surgery will cost me significant finances. I need your help. I already thought I’ll be dead by now. But I wake up to life every morning, surprisingly. And since the universe still wants me alive, please help me stay alive. Thank you very much.

I hope to return to Facebook again after all these. But I need to be okay first. At least get the blurry vision out of the way so I can see your updates on my screen again.
I am thankful to everyone who has reached out one way or the other to ask about my well-being. I opened my Messenger app for the first time few days ago and I was overwhelmed at the plethora of new messages. I would attend to those messages as soon as I can gather enough strength. Thank you everyone. God bless you.
If God wills, I will be back.
Please help Hufon Hime survive

This is the picture of the police criminal gang leader who intercepted me at Ajao junction on Wednesday morning being 22nd of April, 2026 while going to work at exactly 05:55am. I saw a colleague by name Comrade chinedu . As i cleared to pick him up, they double crossed me with korope bus without reg number. They forced my colleague out of my vehicle and forcefully collected my key from me and pushed me to the back seat and three of them jumped inside my vehicle all dressed in police uniform, well armed and one on mask. They drove off and turned under NAHCO bridge and headed towards Mile 2. On getting to Cele express, they cleared before the bridge and forced me to transfer the sum of 200k into a named first Bank acct and this transfer was made at gunpoint at exactly 6 29am.Immediately they confirmed the alert, they all jumped down from my vehicle and fled into their korope and zoomed off towards Mile 2. Attached below is the receipt of transaction and the picture of their leader. I reported the incident at the police station, showing them the picture of the gang's team lead but the Nigerian police force has not been forthcoming in their investigation.

I spent 4 years paying my younger sister’s school fees. Every single kobo.
The day she graduated, she gave the acknowledgement speech and thanked everyone except me.
I sat in that hall and felt my soul leave my body 😭.
When she got admission, things were tight at home.
I had just started my first job.
I told our parents, "Don't worry. I’ll handle it." And I did.
Every semester. No breaks.
There were months I was eating 0-1-0 so her account wouldn't run dry.
I never told her. I didn't think I needed to.
Graduation day, she looked beautiful. The first graduate in our family.
I was prouder of her than I’ve ever been of myself.
Then she got the mic.
> She thanked God. (Fair).
> She thanked our parents. (Expected).
> She thanked her friends who kept her sane.
> She even thanked her HOD.
Then she sat down.
My mother looked at me. I smiled and looked away, but the clapping felt like it was happening in a different room.
I didn’t say anything that day. Or the week after.
But something in how I moved changed.
I stopped volunteering. Started waiting to be asked. Started noticing who actually noticed me.
People say, "Don’t give to be recognized." I agree to an extent.
But there is a thin line between not needing applause and being erased by the person you bled for.
That's not humility. That's invisibility.
We’re fine now. I brought it up six months later, calmly.
She cried, and said she was nervous and blanked.
Maybe. Maybe not 🤷
But I learned something either way.
Sacrifice without communication creates invisible resentment.
Tell people what you are carrying for them. Not to guilt trip them. But because silence makes martyrs, and martyrs make bitter people.
This same dynamic shows up in dating every day.
You’re playing the provider or the supporter in silence, while your partner thinks you're just an oil money that never runs dry.
Stop accepting the bare minimum of gratitude. If they don't see the sacrifice, they won't value the person making it.
Has someone ever made you feel invisible in a relationship after everything you did for them?
Let’s talk below.👇
