Roundhay, Leeds #LocalHistory information, resources and photographs. Everything related to the history of #roundhay#leeds.
Items from my personal collection.
Oakwood Clock was formerly located at the centre of the Leeds Kirkgate Market 1904 'New Market Hall' I have written a little about the time spent by the clock in the market here: https://t.co/BXP63LmLsh
@wthirskgaskill Oh yes! Another memory I have is the sales they had there on boxing day where quite a few people would queue up from late evening on christmas day.
@AnneQuinton I've just been looking at pictures of black swans that my mum took. I'm going again to see her on Saturday so I'll get those scanned in. The water feature I don't remember being elsewhere but I think I have at least one old photo showing it that I will try to locate.
The Canal Gardens, Roundhay Park, Leeds. A view believed to date to 1907. I have often noticed the W. Morris sign at the end in these old photos but as this one is a bit clearer I can now see that it also appears to say "Strawberry Garden"
Happy new year everyone! Hope you are all well. I've been a little quiet on here lately as I've been doing some work on a project I hope to share with you in the near future. More new (old) things coming soon!
