We are deeply saddened by the passing of Dominique Vervoort, a talented young cardiothoracic surgeon whose impact far exceeded his years in training.
Dominique was a PhD candidate in Health Systems Research and Vanier Scholar at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. His doctoral work focused on disparities in the care of thoracic aortic disease, reflecting his profound commitment to equity in healthcare.
A passionate advocate for global surgery and public health, he was also an extraordinary social media ambassador for the EACTS Annual Meeting and other initiatives, generously donating his time to amplify science, live-tweet our sessions and help extend the reach of our Annual Meeting worldwide.
Our thoughts are with Dominique’s family, friends and colleagues. He will be greatly missed.
Penile Cancer survivors face significant often overlooked challenges in mental health and sexual well-being. Research is limited. Survivors need better counseling, nuanced studies and integrated mental and sexual health support to improve QoL https://t.co/BIBmUMnfMx

Interesting case especially with patients concerned about ejaculatory dysfunction, there is no doubt that TUIP would work great but it still carries around 25% of EjD, rezum has a risk of approximately 5% but there are studies showing that it can resolve within 3 months. I wonder if UroLift would be a good option especially that his obstructive etiology is from his high bladder neck and not lateral lobes and there is a concern that it won’t help with the flow and would change the anatomy for a subsequent operation. So maybe if the patient is greatly concerned about EjD then a trial of iTIND might help and in this case optilume would also come to my mind.
First podium #AUA24 presentation, highlighting our Code Torsion pathway! So thankful for my mentors Dr. Waleed Hassen and @OmerRaheemMD. @AmerUrological@CCAD
Grateful for the collaboration and team work! The first 3 robotic kidney transplantations in the region were done @CCAD together we are making history and changing lives. #kidney#Robotics#transplantation@CleClinicUro
How to modify stent strings in less than a minute so they are not inadvertently tugged on. I borrowed this technique from Dr. Lingeman and haven’t had a patient accidentally remove their stent since. No need for trying to tape the strings out of the way… just cut to length

A thread about sutures! Merson sutures we’re developed in Edinburgh, and manufactured on a site I walk past on my home from work - though the building isn’t there any more. They were developed by a man called George Merson, an Aberdonian pharmacist who moved to Edinburgh in 1905
