The push against immigration is spreading across the world. From Trump's MAGA to Europe's "our citizens first" policies, it seems to have found a new face in Africa.
One wonders if this is only the beginning, and whether it will spread across Africa, disguised as nationalism.
It was a great opportunity to meet with Bernard Duhaime, the UN Special Rapporteur on Truth, Justice and Reparation, with our partners. As Uganda makes strides to address its history of conflict, the implementation of the Transitional Justice Policy remains crucial to the process.
We had the opportunity to meet with @BernardDuhaime, the @UN Special Rapporteur on Truth, Justice and Reparation, together with our partners, @goldenwomen20 and @glsurvivorsfund. 🤝
The meeting provided an important opportunity to discuss survivor-centred approaches to reparations and pathways for strengthening access to justice and reparative measures for survivors of conflict in Uganda. The discussion also centred on avenues of collaboration and advocacy, including how joint processes and partnerships can be leveraged to support and strengthen national efforts towards reparations.
The engagement also focused on identifying strategies and partnerships to advance Uganda's implementation of its international obligations on truth, justice, reparations, and guarantees of non-recurrence. ⚖️

Last week, 68 women graduated from entrepreneurship and life skills training at Fort Portal Women’s Prison—equipped for reintegration and sustainable livelihoods.
Proud to partner with @PenalReformInt to support rehabilitation, reintegration, and second chances.
@RachealVanesa@RachealVanesa, today I took a formal complaint to UMRA, but the receptionist discussed my personal sensitive financial details regarding the complaint in public and told me not expect a response from your office because it is busy and there was only a 50/50 chance of feedback.
Excited to start the year as Project Coordinator for “On the path to reparations: A survivor-led action to strengthen the ecosystem on reparations in Uganda” project with aid from the Global Survivors Fund!
A great chance to promote reparations & transitional justice in Uganda
We celebrated this #InternationalHumanRightsDay2025 in the company of our broader women’s justice community🌼as we gathered for the High-Level Feminist Convening organized by the Domestic Violence Act Coalition.
Represented by @OmegaAloyo, we reflected on the intersecting shifting realities affecting women and girls, unpacked the growing threats to feminist organizing, and explored new ways to strengthen solidarity and support the overall wellbeing of activists.
It was great spending the lunch hour today with the Rotary Fellowship for EmpoweringWomen @rfewofficial, a community that nurtures women to thrive. We reflected on the new ways GBV is manifesting, especially digitally, FIDA Uganda's work, and how we can better support victims.💫
This World AIDS Day, I will join @Uganetlawto speak about how online violence inordinately harm persons living with HIV. Acts like the non-consensual disclosure of people's HIV statuses show us why protection is urgent and crucial! join here 👉https://t.co/6RcGXfyNGC
It was an absolute pleasure to join the @ccgea1 at the Country Forum on Fostering a Conducive Environment for Credible, Free, Fair, and Peaceful 2026 General Elections in Uganda 🇺🇬 for a much needed conversation on equitable and fair political financing and electoral violence.
Nothing could have prepared me for how humbling it would be to write about the hurdles Ugandan women face in their quest for leadership. From kidnappings to sexual harassment, the struggle is real.
