During the second quarter of 2023, I visited an elderly relative who complained within my earshot that she has been struggling to let out a property for 6 months without luck.
Without luck bawo? There ain’t such talks around me, I simply can’t tolerate it.😫
It is hiring season right now.
Q3 budgets have been approved. Exits have started coming in.
Decision makers are back at their desks.
This is not the time to be passive.
Here is exactly what you should be doing this week:
- Update your CV before anything else.
Not a full rewrite. Just make sure your most recent role reflects results, not duties.
- Activate your network.
Message 5 people you haven't spoken to in a while.
Not to ask for a job. Just to reconnect.
Opportunities travel through warm relationships, not cold applications.
- Refresh your LinkedIn.
Update your headline. Post something that shows how you think.
Recruiters are actively searching right now and your profile is either working for you or against you.
- Identify 10 companies you want to work for and go directly to their careers pages.
Not just Jobberman. Not just LinkedIn jobs.
The best roles are often posted quietly and filled quickly.
- Set a daily application target.
Not 50. Not 100.
Three quality, tailored applications per day beats thirty generic ones every single time.
The people who move in the next 60 days are the ones who started moving this week.
Don't wait until you're desperate.
Start now while you still have options

It breaks my heart when I see our people who are educated in the UK, have a Master’s Degree, doing odd or demeaning jobs.
In most cases, it is not racism or that there are no jobs. It is usually because our people study and get the qualifications without the work experience.
This country does not respect degrees, but it leans toward work experience, and you usually get work experience through volunteering. So, if there is a vacancy, you will stand a good chance of being given the job.
I studied law after having two children, and the law firms were not looking for an ‘old’ man like me. With three young children, I volunteered in different law firms for over two years before eventually qualifying as a solicitor. My wife fed us through those trying years, but the story has changed for the better.
My friends, you will need to ‘suffer’ by volunteering to use those qualifications. You will not die, and money will come later. The bills will always be there, and a better job will make paying future bills easier. I wish you all the best.

Let me tell you what a recruiter actually does when your CV lands in their inbox.
Because understanding this will change how you write every application.
First, they are looking at 200 CVs for one role. That means they are not reading. They are scanning. You have approximately 6 seconds before they decide to keep reading or move to the next one.
In those 6 seconds they are looking for three things:
- One; a company name they recognise. This is why we say the name on your CV matters. GTBank, Deloitte, PwC, KPMG, mention top tier companies. These names create instant credibility. They are shortcuts for "this person has been vetted by someone we trust."
- Two; a job title that matches what they are hiring for. If you were a "Customer Experience Specialist" but the role is "CRM Manager," your CV may never surface if they are searching by title. Mirror their language exactly. Your CV is not the place to be creative with job titles.
- Three; a number or result that stands out. "Reduced customer complaint resolution time by 60%" stops a scan cold. "Responsible for handling customer complaints" does not.
After the scan, if you survive, they read the last role in detail. Just the last one. Make sure it is your strongest.
Then they look at education and certifications. Briefly.
Then they check for gaps in employment dates. Have an answer ready for every gap. If you have changed jobs recently, prepare an explanation for it.
That is the entire process.
Now go back to your CV and ask yourself: does it survive a 6-second scan?
If the answer is no, nothing else matters.
Fix that first.
Check the comments for my portfolio template. Make sure you create a copy before editing.
1. Be vigilant in keeping your conversations, inboxes, direct messages, emails, & texts PURE.
2. Beware of those who use phrases like "this is between us," "you can trust me," or "I won't tell anyone" to get you to lower your guards or remove your boundaries.
3. Anything sown in secret is subject to a public harvest.
4. So be loving; but not lenient. Be friendly but firm. Be compassionate but clear.
5. Don't tolerate inbox chatter that would compromise your character or taint your testimony.
6. Let the last time you did it be the last time you will ever do it.
I hope this is clear?
Must you talk?
Must you share?
Is it that they didn't use hot water to massage your mouth as a baby?
You must take a selfie of yourself in that hotel room
You must take a picture of yourself with that lover
You must share how that sexcapade went in detail with your friends
You must set a ring light and say rubbish
You must sit on a podcast and set traps for your own destiny with your mouth
You met a guy who wanted to marry you
You guys got talking, and you got very comfortable with him
He seemed so mature and understanding, the kind of man you could tell anything to
He asked you for body count, and you said, "I have been there and I have done that"
You began to talk of orgies here, there, on a yacht, in a jet, in this hotel, in that hotel, at that location
You moved from there into the size of the keys that had entered your keyhole, and how one of them made you almost go crazy
The man's body language changed after all the sharing
You talked all night as he encouraged you to spill
By morning, he dropped some money on the bed and told you he had something to do, and you wouldn't be able to spend the weekend anymore
You later called him immature, not man enough to take you as you are
He changed and ghosted
Your mouth is your grave
The earlier you learn how to close it, the longer you will live
I attended a bridal shower in 2023. The bride and I weren't that close anymore, but somehow, she added I and 20 others to her bridal train. So I attended for the fun of it.
We were all in a WhatsApp group. We made plans, paid, and got ready for the big day. 21 bridal ladies didn't sound right to me, plus her sister-in-law was one of us. I knew there would be drama, but I didn't know how it'd erupt.
On the day night of the bridal shower, everything was set, decoration, cakes and food, very classy setting.
It was time for each of us to talk about the bride and probably advise her. We were all seated round the table. About 16 of us had talked, including myself, and it was the turn of one girl. She stood up and started talking about the good times they had, and then she mentioned the threesome she and the bride once had with an ijgb years back and how she wish to experience it again, had it been she wasn't getting married.
Her sister in law was right there. She heard everything, got up, and left the room. Everywhere was quiet. The bride placed her hands on her face. No one could utter a word. Everyone left the table one after the other.
We all went to our rooms, and the following morning, her sister came to knock on the door that we should not bother to get dressed because the wedding had been cancelled.
It was a very crazy experience.
My Pastor said something recently I won’t forget in a hurry
He said👇
“Everyday may not be a revival but show up everyday at your altar”
Everyday you will not feel goosebumps and thunder as you pray and do spiritual things
But let it not be heard that heaven did not hear your voice
Hard paths are made through a forest because people don’t stop walking
You don’t need to run
Just show up every day and walk across
You may not have all the Rhema and deep revelations
Just show up and say “Lord it’s me again, the child you died for”
SHOW UP
Even on sad days
Even when life is raining on you
Even when you don’t understand
Even when there are worries
Even when prayers are not yet answered
SHOW UP
THIS IS HOW WE WIN!!!!
Three years ago, I was stuck
Or I would say I felt stuck
I had finished service and it seemed like nothing was moving in my life
No Job
No direction on what was next
To crown it all, I was just served the hottest breakfast ever and it seemed like my world would end
I had to go back helping my parents in the business they were doing
I was doing this job for my parents in the university and to still came back to that same spot after school?
It’s like I was moving in circles
I tried to do a post graduate program, that one just parked one side
Someone would show interest in marriage and when it came the time to take concrete decisions, they would slip off
I remember praying against spritual husband one time
Not that I thought I had one, but I just wanted to cover my bases
Just in case
I would come out and preach and do programs and I would go back in and cry
To worsen it, all my peers that we had grown up together in church were getting settled one after the other
I was doing chief bridesmaid and bridal train again and again
Even though I was doing it with Joy, I kept getting the pity stares from people
And I was getting the looks, the concerned looks from church people
Being in a ministry that was public I was always before the eyes of people and the scrutiny was intense
I remember one time , it was almost becoming difficult to go to church because I was tired of the pity looks
“Miss fine social media woman, what’s up with you?
Everybody has gone ahead and you’re still here?”
I would serve my God diligently
I wasn’t sure what was next
——————————————————
The past six months of my life have seemed like 6 years
Because A LOT has happened
New marriage
New Job
New House
New country
New this
New that
When it was my time came, God compressed everything inside 6 months
Everything has been happening with lightening speed and precision my head still reels when I analyze it
God has said it is your time now and it’s been back to back to back to back miracles and provisions and progress
I can’t recognize the woman I am
Dear child of God
I bring to you today a promise of RESTORATION
That all the years that it seems the cankerworms have eaten, God will restore
I know what it feels like to feel stuck
I know the pain very well
I see your messages in my inbox and I may not be able to reply you one by on
But if you can see this,
Please hold on to God
Don’t stop serving Him
Your TIME will come
The Zeal of the Lord will make it happen
If He did it for me, He will do your own too
self-control today?
We are called to walk by faith, not by pressure, comparison, or fleeting emotions. Remember that you are deeply loved by God. Do not let momentary desires distract you from your greater purpose.
Reflect on these things. God loves you so much. Shalom🤗♥️
A child of God somewhere may be feeling pressured by all the Valentine’s excitement happening online. My friend, take a moment to return to Scripture.
The Bible reminds us that “the vision is for an appointed time; though it tarries, wait for it.” What is meant for you will
come at the right time.
Dear brothers and sisters, do not allow temporary trends or emotional pressure to push you into decisions that could compromise your destiny.
Yes, God redeems mistakes through Christ—but wisdom asks: why not protect your future by exercising
