@HDRgameAnalysis@MattyAmazing@WesleyW62623 You can try it yourself, try to game in HDR Original vs Basic. although I’m not sure how it behaves on the C series. What bothers me the most about using P3 is that reds shift toward an orange tone, which I’ve never liked.
@HDRgameAnalysis@MattyAmazing@WesleyW62623 And yeah, most games use P3 or sometimes not even that (still Rec.709), but the container and signal are still BT.2020. So in HDR Original you get beautiful color and zero banding. The only downside is that you lose HGiG and the TV tone-maps everything to 10,000 nits.
@HDRgameAnalysis@MattyAmazing@WesleyW62623 This was mentioned by HDTVTest in their F series review. When the TV uses P3 it reduces the panel’s full gamut, which can cause color shifts and more banding/posterization. That’s why the difference vs BT.2020 is quite noticeable on the F series.
@HDRgameAnalysis@MattyAmazing@WesleyW62623 HDTVTest also discussed this in their F series review. You can now get excellent BT.2020 colors in Game Mode with proper color luminance, as long as you stay in HDR Original mode.
@HDRgameAnalysis@MattyAmazing@WesleyW62623 Yeah, the F series changed this a bit and it was widely discussed on AVS forums. HDR Original now uses BT.2020, unlike previous models that always used DCI-P3. So in this mode you get excellent colors in games, but if you enable HGiG the TV switches back to P3 but no so accurate.
@HDRgameAnalysis@MattyAmazing@WesleyW62623 One thing I don’t like about my S95F is that HDR Basic (HGiG) messes up the colors, especially in Auto. Native helps a bit but color luminance gets too high and everything looks blown out. HDR Original has perfect colors, but you lose HGiG and some impact, still looks spectacular
