@ContractJames @mattyglesias Isn’t that exactly his point? A moderate Dem would win in any deep blue city/state. Lots of political science research on how primaries in deep red/blue areas push candidates further left or right.

But someone who runs on a DSA platform may have a hard time winning statewide in IA, TX, ME etc. Allowong the party as a whole to moderate on key issues helps all

@Lyle_Lanley @ksusys @mattyglesias She represents how he thinks Dems should treat moderates in swing/red states. The party as a whole understands the need to keep her in office, gives her a long leash on some votes so she can be there for tough ones.

In fact Trump still has a very high approval among Republicans. It’s just that he has cratered with Dems (of course), indies and unaffiliated voters.

@mattyglesias A serious, not snarky question. At what point does rejecting plans-ism become too vague? I broadly agree with you, but doesn’t “the rich should pay more” require some definition of rich? opponents will claim the candidate means people they plainly don’t. Where’s the line?

they skipped one or 2over the years.

For many nations where soccer is embedded in their culture the third place match still means a lot to them.

But applicants must certify under penalty of perjury that they’re citizens, and states cross-check identities against DMV/SSA records and flag deaths, moves, duplicates, and other ineligibility.

Mail use is changing by generation, but universal service should be judged by those who depend on it, not those who can easily opt out.

@KarenRylander @amyklobuchar Well yeah I agree size and scope is one thing. But public opinion on at least mail most days of the week would be tough to combat. Whether there is wisdom in the crowd is another.

@KarenRylander @amyklobuchar I understand but many people also get vital things. About 40% of all mail yearly is correspondence, packages, and transactions (bills, bank statements, legal notices) and that is not withstanding the constitutional mandate for the post office.
