After Dark (1987-2003) was the only regular truly live and open-ended discussion show on British tv. It was inspired by a series from Vienna called Club 2. Here’s Club 2 in 1978:-

@richmondie@trargtweets A few years later, this just popped up for us. Thank you for remembering. As a matter of interest, did you know The Secret Cabaret and After Dark were produced by the same company? https://t.co/v8JxNSuiEE
@whydontyoutube This was the BBC’s response to our series The Secret Cabaret, broadcast on Channel 4 a couple of years before. Some clips here: https://t.co/gARS9jdPig
@damiendamien@brian_scanlan Thanks for the name check. In fact After Dark simply inverted the tv habit of pouring drink down people backstage but having only water on the set. Our set had a bar and the guests served themselves. Some drank alcohol, but some didn’t. Clips here: https://t.co/t3QPyAdUWC
@smithdown Many thanks for your interest. That was quite a show. Best you write to the company via the website: https://t.co/v8JxNSuiEE
In the meantime here is the opening of After Dark: Football, the Final Whistle? https://t.co/yr4ujdn3q0
