Introducing @OpenReserveBank , a blockchain native de-novo digital bank, finally out of stealth. This week the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) granted conditional approval of our full-service U.S. national bank charter application.
Preliminary conditional approval to charter a de novo national bank is a privilege our team does not take lightly. It is a significant milestone and the beginning of the most demanding phase of the work.
We're building toward real-time settlement across fiat and blockchain rails, direct Federal Reserve connectivity, tokenized deposits, and GENIUS Act-designed payment stablecoin infrastructure.
Thank you to the entire OpenReserve team, our board, investors, and to the OCC who ran a rigorous review. More to come!

.@POTUS and Congress delivered the GENIUS Act, establishing a landmark framework and clear rules of the road for payment stablecoins, and Treasury is moving quickly to implement that framework. @USTreasury welcomes input from stakeholders as we work to provide the regulatory certainty businesses need to innovate and grow in America, cement the role of the U.S. dollar as the world’s reserve currency, and keep America the crypto capital of the world.
From OpenReserve's @dschwed on the recent Coinkite hack, "If you're simply looking for exposure to the asset class, there are better options than self-custody for most people."
Thank you to Anna Irrera and Ryan Weeks of Bloomberg News for including my thoughts in their latest article about the Coldcard "hack".
As I noted in the article, this one hits different. The victims were doing everything they were told was the right thing to do, use a cold wallet.

The divide between traditional finance and blockchain infrastructure is entirely artificial. The future doesn’t force you to choose between the two—it seamlessly integrates the best of both. The next era of financial infrastructure is closer than you think.
The CISO role isn't dying; it's evolving into the next CFO. Cyber risk is now business risk.

250 years ago, the foundational layer was deployed. The next era of sovereignty isn’t defined by geography, it’s defined by the financial architecture built beneath it.
Stablecoins are in their early innings : usage will be in the trillions per year very shortly - there are numerous use cases not even imagined that will be solved by new Bank-issued, GENIUS compliant stablecoins, along with tokenized deposits.
