Dear @PoliceUg ,
7yrs ago this was the same bus with reg number UBE 110H, owned by Opit, that caused the same accident yesterday.
Can all stakeholders involved conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that the buses in operation are in proper condition?
While still working at @chapterfourug, I handled countless cases against the former Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence, now the Directorate of Intelligence Security - my approach in dealing with them was different from that of many human rights lawyers. I explored administrative remedies and resorted to legal remedies only after I failed to resolve an issue. I knew a court-led remedy was a long, uncertain, and often heavily influenced route.
This approach meant I had numerous face-to-face interactions with the institution's leadership. There was no love lost in these interactions. They all called to my face an agent of foreigners & unpatriotic. I was unbothered and pursued accountability against their officers.
The last interaction was a case of a torture victim - tortured by Capt. Amis Ainebyonna at the behest of @AnitahAmong, the Speaker of Parliament then, & her husband @MosesMagogo. It also involved @CharlesTwiine, who then worked at @Parliament_Ug in some police investigative role.
I took the matter up with Brig. Rugumyo, the Deputy Commandant of CMI at the time. A series of engagements yielded worthless undertakings, and I escalated the issue to his boss, Maj. Gen. Birungi, & at some point involving @AndrewMwenda, a close friend of Birungi.
The matter was never resolved - at least in the manner I had envisioned. Let's say the client found a remedy, albeit a half remedy, and was content with what he finally got.
Throughout the process, the CMI officers derisively referred to their boss and ‘the cook’. I understand he was a chef in the army at some point. I had my suspicions about him, but I never knew that he took to cooking false terror alarms.
The once powerful Capt. Amis is in prolonged military detention ( I hope he gets a fair trial); the folks who unleashed him to do unspeakable things to fellow citizens may well end up in jail for corruption (I hope for torture and murder as well); the folks who looked away and allowed him to use CMI facilities are in jail, and the others are under house arrest.
Power is transient. Use it well so that when your tour of duty is over, you will not live
in regret or have a tumultuous ending.
"If you willingly break the law to protect those in power against the law, what makes you think you will have the protection of the law when those in power leave? And they will one day leave, just as surely as the sun rises and sets." – Former presidential candidate Major General (Rtd) Gregory Mugisha Muntu, founder of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT). THE BEST PRESIDENT UGANDA NEVER HAD.
While the country was concentrating on @miriamatembe on 30 June 2026, the Acting President of @NUP_Ug got the case against Her (inciting violence) being prosecuted by @ODPPUGANDA & @PoliceUg dismissed from Gulu Chief Magistrate Courts for failure to conclude investigations.
Where is Sam Mugumya? It is his right to be home
Sam has/knows a song for any situation. He is gifted multilingually. He switches from Runyakitara to Luganda to Swahili to Lingala and any other language without any difficulty. Sam is a brilliant teacher. Once he starts talking about a certain topic, you just pull your mat or chair and listen.
You do not wish him to stop talking.

In the Dr.Besigye and Hajji Lutale case, the defence team started off by informing court that they filed an application yesterday arising from criminal session case no. 0335 of 2025.
The notice of motion dated 29th June 2026 is related to human rights enforcement application which seeks for the deportation of @MarthaKarua to be declared unconstitutional and unlawful.
The application seeks court to nullify the "persona non grata" designation and restrain the respondents from preventing Karua's future entry into Uganda.
The application also raises concerns over the persecution of Senior Lawyer Erias Lukwago who is part of the defence team and was subjected to military abduction, incommunicado detention and mistreatment.
Prosecution has not objected the application and Justice Baguma has guided that the respondents are given upto 1st July to respond to the application by 6pm and Defence has been given upto 2nd July to file a rejoinder by 6pm.
The application has been fixed for hearing on 3rd July 2026.
Justice Baguma had proposed to start the bail application hearing but Dr. Besigye has raised a concern that their bail application should not proceed without resolving the issue of their representation, citing that their bail application can not be heard today without first the disposal of the applications on issues of violations against their lawyers.

Our hope will not die. It may be tested, delayed, and challenged, but it will never die. Keep fighting for the rights of those who have no voice. Your dedication gives hope to so many people, and your work is changing lives. Stay strong justice is worth the fight, and hope always endures.
Finally Since one of our Parishioners Dr. Miria Matembe who prays in the 8am service (same as I do) has been faced with such injustice, I await the leadership to come out boldly and speak out against it! The country is watching.
This was Hon. Miria Matembe pleading with the Magistrate to allow her to go for treatment for her back. "At least Amin used to shoot you, po! But this kind of breaking......." She said.
For context, this senior citizen was one of the eminent Ugandans who traversed this country seeking views on the 1995 Constitution! As I saw her crying out, I couldn't help but imagine what was going on in her mind. Mulimba mutufuze bubi nnyo!

@DuncanAbigaba@facebook wasn't making any profits in Uganda hence the closure, there were s many fake accounts.
Under yourself there were about ten thousand (10,000) fake accounts, upon discovery of these fake accounts from a single server, termination of services in Uganda followed.
This evening, I paid a courtesy call on Senior Counsel and PLP Party Leader Hon. @MarthaKarua at her home to express my solidarity following her ordeal in Uganda earlier in the day.
Also calling in were Hon. @skmusyoka, Hon. @HonJBMuturi and @profkagwanja.
There can be no meaningful East African Community if citizens performing their professional duties are harassed or barred from moving freely across the borders as permitted by the Treaty.
As counsel for political prisoners Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale, @MarthaKarua has every right to access her client in Uganda.
We call on the government of Uganda to uphold the rule of law and respect binding treaties of the Jumuiya.
@mkainerugaba after 'arresting' @JoelSsenyonyi don't run to Gulu like you did when you couldn't stand the pressure in Kampala after arresting @EriasLukwago
I challenging you to order for the release of @kizzabesigye1 from Luzira & you perform your long awaited ritual of hanging.
LRA used to commit crime in God’s name. You too offend the law and then tell us how you are a descendant of Jesus Christ, as if to insinuate that you do all the wrong you do in His name!!
This is a leaked audio conversation between Mirjaam Blaak, Uganda’s Ambassador to Belgium and the European Union, and Kahinda Otafiire.
In the recording, both individuals badmouthed CDF Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Otafiire went further by defending Bobi Wine, an enemy of his boss - President Museveni.
In the audio, Ambassador Blaak came across as diplomatically weak and appeared to have surrendered to NUP.
@mkainerugaba With the so much powers that you have, cause the release of @kizzanesigye1 and announce his execution as you keep talking about.
The Court summons you are arresting @EriasLukwago for will still reach you, arrest won't help.
Just release Lukwago, you have no business with him.
@mkainerugaba Just order for release of @kizzabesigye1 & perform your long awaited rituals, being an advocate is not a crime.
The Court summons still stands, the earlier you deal with it the better, arresting @EriasLukwago & more others will not do away with the Court summon.
@mkainerugaba s/o @KagutaMuseveni arresting @EriasLukwago will not stop court summons, it's not @EriasLukwago's deed that court summoned you
Head to court & show your might.
You can also order that @kizzabesigye1 is released from Luzira & you perform your long awaited ritual.
