Great summary podcast by @otatrauma of the VANCO study - reduced deep infection rates from g +ve bacteria by over 50% in tibial plateau/pilon fracture.

WALANT has been used mainly for hand & wrist procedures - this group used it in 58 pts with AO 44Bs & Cs. Mean intraop VAS scores of 1.24 ± 0.43 (range, 0 to 3)

Not sure if there's a big enough benefit over GA but do we see this becoming a thing?

The EBJIS along with the MSIS have developed this novel ‘traffic light’ approach which divides patients by the likelihood of infection (green or amber) or confirmed infection (red). Excellent resource in this month's @BoneJointJ

This is a very useful paper showing some tips and tricks when IM nailing tibial fractures. Percutaneous clamps, temporary plates, blocking wires/screws.
