@_consistent_man A large part of us sending water to California is because we push it through the Glen Canyon Dam to generate electricity for 5 million people. We need nuclear now!
@bcbaker66 BTW, during Covid, our local Southern Indian restaurant couldn't get Cauliflower, so the offered me Paneer Manchurian. 🤯
Also, I only know this exists because I think my Indian friends were trying to prank me. But SOOO yummy!
@KUTV2News If the Timp fire had behaved like the Cottonwood fire, a lot of people hiking that mountain would have died. This man had mass murder in his heart.
@ShawnPhoMaker@Grownded Realistically, a lot of young people are doing well. Those of us who remain single for longer usually do have issues of some sort. You teach your kids to be good to others, and they'll be off to a good start. The rest of us need to work on the beam in our own eye.
@cliftonaduncan And the moment beautifully acted by Sam Neill and Laura Dern. His voice trembling with excitement and she sounds like she's about to cry.
@ShawnPhoMaker@Grownded I tried joining an LDS mid-singles group on Facebook. Had to get back out. EVERYONE was just dunking on the opposite sex. It was pretty brutal stuff.
Remember the plastic straw debate?
I was curious how banning straws globally would stack up against @TheOceanCleanup’s current impact.
US beach cleanup data suggests straws make up just 0.005% of plastic pollution.
The Ocean Cleanup is now stopping 2–5% of global plastic inflow (and growing rapidly)
So our current impact is already ~400–1000x what a global straw ban could ever achieve!
@Grownded I actually don't think I'm easy to date. I'm very introverted. When I was dating, I would try really hard to be more outgoing and engaged. I know I have a slew of other issues, but I just couldn't work out why it was so hard to even get past the first date. So...I'm done.
@Grownded The very few dates I went on seemed like an OK start...but guys would just disappear after one date. My dad set me up on one, and it was the only time I got an answer on why I wasn't asked out again. "She was too tall." I'm 5'8". Even my dad had a hard time with that one. /2
@DancingTechGeek I get to use AI a ton at work. But the class has learning objectives, and I don't feel like I'm meeting them. I'm really struggling with Architecture, and I feel like that knowledge still means something. It's getting me pretty depressed.
I have a pretty obscure account, so this probably won't go anywhere. But are there are seasoned Devs out there that I could talk to about how you learn to think about coding? I'm taking a class right now (again) that has me ripping my hair out.
