@BethMooreLPM And what is 'protected' in the pulpit, is protected in the home. Such leaders don't hold each other accountable even for how those in their closest circles are treated, and those dismissed in such 'systems' lose all voice. This is NOT who Jesus showed us he was.
Today during the sweep, I saw Angel again. I first met her in 2022, beaten and naked in a tent off Dexter. For nearly a year I tried everything: funded emergency hotels, got her into a tiny home (she was exited for arson), even brought her into my own home during the gaps, and talked with her family.
She was never ready for the mental health and substance use treatment she desperately needed first.
Angel became one of the tipping points that made me realize: we can’t truly help people like her without court-ordered intervention.
She’s sick. Our taxes and failed policies just manage her slow decline.
Once again… the streets win. 💔
There's a certain freedom when you realize you belong to God. He will do with your life what he will. He is in charge of your story. You don't have to impress anyone. You don't have to prop yourself up. You can just say true things about your past (and your present), and let the truth do its work.
We lost 30,000 souls to death by overdose in the State of Washington over the last 13 years and tax funded PHRA thinks it’s cute to make valentines normalizing illegal drug use and paraphernalia (pipes/foil are also paid for by @KCPubHealth) @KCCouncil defund this program. 👇🏼
@AdeleScalia Similar to your mom, Adele—I became a grandma at 54 via my second son, had my firstborn at 24. Grandbaby #7 is now on the way and I'm still in my 60s.😉
@blaiseforet As one who experienced it from the inside for over a decade with no hint that those who should have cared, cared at all, 💯right on this Blaise. Thank you.
@choeshow Thank you, Jonathan. I have a son on the streets. He is desperate for some form of intervention. We (his family) will do anything, everything to stand with him. But somehow the enabling insanity needs to stop. Appreciate you!
@benedtl I have a son on the streets of Seattle, lost to a family that loves him deeply. 2 brothers, a sister, their partners, 7 nieces and nephews, cousins. We long for him to be with us. We hunt him down just to touch him and say we love him. Addiction has taken everything from him.
@tarafaul503@kevinvdahlgren We are so grateful to you and Kevin for coming and documenting the horror that happens every hour on Seattle streets. Thank you so much. May God in His great mercy intervene to move us in a new direction caring for the enslaved and hopeless that can no longer help themselves.
@tarafaul503 Tara, my son is on the streets in Seattle. While there a lot of friends/contacts keeping eyes open for him, it would mean so much if folks like you and Kevin were working there. I know the loved ones of those on Portland streets are so grateful. God's blessing over you both.
