Revising the mission statement after playback with some collaborators:

Growing a benevolent trans-local sociocracy for refuge, training, community and cultural transition.

Goal:
Every citizen meets our needs- including a healthy biosphere- through enjoyable and dignified work.

@auryn_macmillan @joincolony @brave @firefox Thanks! It's a bit chicken-egg since the page isn't loading at all (though I had no issue with it last month), so I'll ask my fellow :: colons :: to add their upvotes on all our behalves

QOTD:
"The idea that land should be treated from an economic point of view as it if were a commodity that you buy and sell and make money on has to change. Land can’t be treated that way. It has to be treated as a form of trust, and we have to be stewards of the land." ~Bob Swann

@inhabitglobal Get a whole trailer of straw bales, make double stacks the footprint of your bed size. Erect bird feeders above the bales to attract bird feces for nitrogen and phosphorus. Let it rain and the bales decompose. Stir occasionally.

I can’t even process this…

Amazon — you know, the one run by the richest man, the one whose sales have shot up during a pandemic — is doing an online fundraiser. Asking all of us to donate to support its warehouse temps & flex drivers hit by Covid.

"Community land trusts—which provide a legal structure to remove land from the market and place it under community control—are a vital strategy."

All I want is a society that works for everyone, including kids, future generations, and other species. I don't think that's radical.

"I think we have to be very critical in this era of creative enterprise of the ways in which creative people become entrepreneurs of the self to the point where extraction in the form of wage theft might seem inevitable"...

Airlines are getting worried! We ARE shifting the culture as planned.

I was just interviewed with a consultant whose client is an airline (he wasn't allowed to say which one) about the flying less movement. So I basically got to talk directly to that airline's execs.

This decade, will we continue to treat land as a commodity, to be bought & sold for individual short-term gain, or will we recognize that land access is a fundamental right of all humans, necessary for healthy food, water, air, housing, economic prosperity, and a livable future?
