Looking forward to seeing #researchEDNewy flood the X-feed today on the farm. Well done @DrKateBarton and the @researchED_Aus team for organising an exceptional conference today.
Last chance to register for A Matter of Translation. Jeynotes from @EminaMcLean, @PepsMccrea, @DrTimMcDonald1 & Prof Andrew Martin. Workshops from @msrebeccabirch, Luke Rawle, Emma Bergin, Ashton Murphy, Madeleine Dwyer Kristy Bjarnelind & Patrick Sanders. https://t.co/yy7kjBXSSO
Can’t wait for this event on the weekend. I am really excited to be sharing the amazing work the team at @ALearnerToolkit is doing to promote life-long learning in over 40 partners schools reaching 5000+ students.
People who are interested in reading instruction tend to eventually find themselves wanting learn more about language more generally and it's study (i.e. linguistics).
Here are a few really accessible books that I recommend on this subject.
🪡🧵
In 2 years, we have grown to over 30 Partner Schools in 4 countries. As we grow and share translatable and free #cogsci & #SOL teacher and student training, we get much more in return from the collective capacity of our Partner Schools and Critical Friends
A matter of translation with @ALearnerToolkit kicked off with a powerful keynote from @DrTimMcDonald1 Behaviour needs to be explicitly taught in our curriculum. Link the rules to the values in your school and reinforce.
Loved @tezzabyers session on interleaving at the @ALearnerToolkit conference at Churchie today. Interleaving boosts learning when interleaved topics are related.
@msrebeccabirch Imagine the collective benefit in any school if a cohort of teachers received focused training and then instructional coaching on these skills? @DrTimMcDonald1 with absolute gold.
Educational research suggests that, as learners, we have far more in common than our current culture of individualism is willing to recognise. So true @greg_ashman
I am very much looking forward to @greg_ashman keynote. I have been following his research/writing for some time. What I have found refreshing is that he goes beyond our desired beliefs/feelings/intent as educators and focuses on the "actual" effects/outcomes of what we do.
