St. Glicherie is one of the greatest saints of the 20th century. At the setting of the sun tonight, June 15th on the Church’s calendar, we arrive at his feast day.
All Orthodox Christians in our times should know his life (https://t.co/5zv6yegc93) and foster a prayerful relationship with him through his intercessions.
@CatholicRadTrad@howlinghowler_ He himself wasn’t a particularly great Christian, but the struggle of his nation and her allies in that war was one of Christendom against Antichrist whether he knew/wanted it or not
@AppyOrtho@IngrahamAngle Even more important than that, southern planters used their slaves as collateral for loans. The biggest fear southerners had of immediate emancipation was a mass default and British and Yankee banks seizing the plantations.
It’s not, though. As someone from the Russian side of True Orthodoxy, if you believe ROCA was correct and just in its mission, then their support for ALL of the Old Calendarists, be they Greek, Romanian or Bulgarian, gives them clear legitimacy even if you exclude the arguments of the Old Calendarists themselves (which you shouldn’t, their arguments have always been very good and correct).
@EphraimChrist14@TheNewCatacombs That’s simply not true. For what should be obvious reasons, we take these things very seriously. Even if you disagree with us, don’t paint us to be a bunch of ignorant fools.
“I’m worried about the radicalization that of the youth”
Can you address the issues that are radicalizing them?
“No that’s dangerous, I just want them to stop being radical”
Can you at least take responsibility for the situation?
“No, it’s the young people who are wrong”
@BlumpfDog@EthanWayne2001 In that case good on him for ending it in the United States, though I’ve seen no evidence Patriarch John X has ended the practice in the Old World.
@BlumpfDog@EthanWayne2001 From a True Orthodox perspective the only difference is that the EP are gay ecumenists and Antioch are ecumenists that aren’t gay, which means both are in heresy (especially when they’re literally communing heretics).
@BlumpfDog@EthanWayne2001 My point is that both the Greek New Calendarists and the Patriarchate of Antioch have fallen into the heresy of ecumenism and that fleeing GOARCH to Antioch to escape ecumenism doesn’t work.
I started by saying that Antioch is not much better because they commune Monophysites, which is directly comparable to Elpidophoros saying the non-Orthodox spouses of Orthodox should be communed, as in both scenarios heretics are being communed. I think this a perfectly reasonable comparison.
…I’m just telling you that they’re both very ecumenist, with Antioch’s Joint Declaration with the Monophysites that is in part a communion agreement serving as evidence. Where does “purity” come into play within this context, and where is the strawman when I’m referencing an official document from the Patriarchate?
If you can find me an official written statement where either the Patriarchate as a whole or the Antiochian Archdiocese states that the 1991 Joint Declaration is null and void then I’ll agree that Antioch has improved significantly, but what the Metropolitan said in the video wouldn’t apply to the Monophysites according to Antioch as Antioch considers the Monophysites to be Orthodox.

@BlumpfDog@EthanWayne2001 The 1991 Joint Declaration is still in effect. The Antiochians and Monophysites still commune each other. The New Calendar Greeks might be the most ecumenist, but there really isn’t a World Orthodox jurisdiction that isn’t guilty of ecumenism to some degree or another.
