This research regarding strep is important for the pandas pans disease credibility. It is a MISTAKE for governments in Europe, Australia and Canada to neglect immediate swabbing of youth, particularly, with suspected pharangytis. It takes 3 to 7 times to visit a GP in these countries to get swab or penicillin. Pandas is evolving Sydenham Chorea is evolving. We need to pay attention. Mark my words.

We here show that Group A Strep infections trigger profound changes in the transcriptome of microglia and BECs. Distinct Th17-derived cytokines have shared and unique effects on these cells. Microglia activate many cytokines that are also found elevated in patients with PANDAS.
