As another year ends, @PATHMalaria reflects on all we've accomplished with our partners. We remain committed to the audacious goal to #EndMalaria for all, even amidst challenges like #AMDR and climate change. In this🧵we share photos illustrating key moments in 2024. (1/11)
Today marks the start of World #AMR Awareness Week.
#AntimicrobialResistance (AMR) is not a future problem. It is a present crisis, causing more than one million deaths every year and undermining decades of medical progress.
With the right policies, we can protect our people and our health systems.
@WHO calls on all countries to fully implement and fund their National Action Plans, strengthen #OneHealth systems, and keep antibiotics and life-saving medicines working for everyone.
Let's act now. Protect our present. Secure our future.
The #malaria fight faces a "perfect storm" of challenges, among them #climatechange, which is driving new mosquito species & pushing malaria into previously non-endemic areas.
@UNITAID's new report, "Genetically Modified Mosquitoes (GMM), Technology and Access Landscape," offers a potential roadmap for safely, responsibly & sustainably using GMMs to advance public health.

With #vaccines on the market, we're developing next-gen vaccines and monoclonal antibodies to bring us closer to #malariaeradication. Read about the @WHO-commissioned impact value assessment of malaria vaccines and prophylactic #mAbs in the pipeline: https://t.co/GHQu136kVQ
SMC has emerged as a primary intervention in #malaria control, protecting over 53 million children in 2023, mainly in West Africa's Sahel region. But due to rising funding cuts and growing antimalarial drug resistance, these gains are at risk. Let's stay committed to fighting malaria to the end for a malaria-free future.
Why support the Global Fund?
Because together, the @GlobalFund partnership has made unstoppable progress against the deadliest infectious diseases.
70 million lives have been saved.
Together, we must #StopAtNothing to end AIDS, TB and malaria.
Over 80% of malaria cases in Africa are treated with one drug combination. If resistance spreads, millions could be left without effective treatment. STOP-AMDR introduces multiple first-line therapies to reduce this risk.

For a newborn or child, #Malaria is especially deadly. Strong health systems with quality diagnostics, effective treatments & trained health workers are their first line of defense. This #PatientSafetyDay,we reaffirm that Patient safety is paramount in the fight to #EndMalaria.
Have you ever wondered which mosquito transmits #malaria? Find out below!
As World Mosquito Day is August 20th, we are commemorating the day by posting facts about mosquitoes each day this week.

Malaria isn't just a health issue. It's a crisis compounded by conflict, climate change, and displacement.
This #WorldHumanitarianDay, we stand with those on the frontlines ensuring the most vulnerable are protected.
#EndMalaria#ClimateCrisis
According to the latest AU Malaria Progress Report, an estimated 74 million people were displaced in 2023, either as refugees or internally displaced due to conflict and disaster.
Displacement, disrupted health services, and broken supply chains fuel increases in #malaria cases and deaths, while driving up delivery and implementation costs, further widening funding gaps.
This #WorldHumanitarianDay, we are reminded that humanitarian crises are also health crises. As the world is called to #ActForHumanity, we must prioritise displaced populations across borders, strengthen planning, and ensure no one is left behind, both in the fight against malaria & in access to essential #health services.
PATH President @nikolajgilbert joins leaders from across the sector in calling on the US to sustain its investments in global #HealthSecurity.

Today marks the #DayOfTheAfricanChild. We recognize the devastation malaria inflicts on children all over Africa. At PATH, we work hard to support ministries of health to combat malaria and protect the health and wellness of children against malaria.
Preventing a pandemic costs 3 times less than managing one once it's hit. Investing in immunisation isn’t just smart health policy. It’s economic common sense. https://t.co/WfKAVewXjw via @ConversationUK
@WHO Vaccines 👏save👏lives👏 At PATH, we work across the innovation and access pipeline, from research and development to expanding access to new and current vaccines. #VaccinationforAll
At PATH, we are committed to providing evidence-based interventions to combat and prevent malaria. Information dissemination is crucial to a cohesive effort across partners. Check out our latest publications 👇https://t.co/i7dowb2Zv9
On this Nigeria 🇳🇬#ChildrensDay, we recognize the importance of children and the future they represent. We are proud partners of the @Rotary Healthy Communities Challenge and committed to reducing deaths in children under 5 due to malaria, diarrhea, and pneumonia.
Even as Nigeria introduces #malaria#vaccines, households are told to ensure the use of other preventive measures to keep the disease at bay. This underscores the importance of taking a multi-pronged approach to malaria elimination.

🗣️ “To eliminate malaria, we must first control mosquitoes.”
In this bold op-ed, our own @Sunharvestshine & Konstantina Boutsika call for urgent investment and interventions in mosquito control, because malaria must not win.
With improved surveillance and sustainable vector control, we can outsmart the mosquito and #EndMalaria.🦟

No mother or child should die from Malaria.🚫
76% of malaria deaths in Africa in 2023 were children under 5 but we can change this story because mothers are fighting back to #EndMalaria. Together, we can save and protect the lives of our children.🤝
We honour mothers battling malaria in their homes and communities. Thank you for your fight against malaria.💪
