@portcreditdotca Yes. And spillway is a better definition than creek. Itโs alarming @HMcCallionLine thinks it can slash oxygen levels, hike temperatures, remove all biodiversity, and still say that Mary Fix Creek contributes the Credit River Watershed. It delivers warm, low oxygen, salty water.
This is not a creek. Itโs a storm sewer. Creeks look quite a bit different. At least they ought to. Please call it what it is, because if we convince ourselves that concrete storm ditches and creeks are the same thing, the Credit River is toast.
๐ง Big News! ๐ง Mary Fix Creek reconstruction is almost done, promising enhanced flood protection. Plus restored parking at Port Credit GO. Read the full progress details! https://t.co/l0XELxmwtt ๐#InfrastructureUpgrade#PortCredit
@HMcCallionLine If โthe concrete portion is a continuation of the naturalized upstream creek channel,โ can @HMcCallionLine identify even one feature that was added to make it natural? Sorry, but it looks like you turned this stretch of Mary Fix Creek into a featureless, concrete storm-sewer.
@portcreditdotca @HMcCallionLine@PortCredit_HCD Storm sewers are needed, but they are not creeks. When we turn cold-water creeks into concrete storm sewers, we simply give up on them as creeks. Do that to enough creeks, and we give up on the possibility of maintaining trout and salmon in the Credit River.
@HMcCallionLine Can you clarify? Does @HMcCallionLine define this concrete channel as a creek? And is it your belief that the biodiversity in the upper section of Mary Fix Creek will survive in this concrete channel? Please confirm.
On Saturday, members from the Mississauga Canoe Club and the Port Credit Salmon and Trout Association will be on the river and surrounding shoreline for their annual spring clean up. If youโre out in the community please consider helping out or simply provide encouragement!

WARD 1 UPDATE
New Lights & Salmon Crosswalks at Front & Lakeshore
After reaching out to the Port Credit BIA, Presidents of local Ratepayer groups, Port Credit Heritage District, & local residents, I initiated this project for of our community
#Ward1#mississauga#collaboration
Appreciate the opportunity to participate in the Chinook Salmon egg collection in Mississauga & tour the new high tech automated fish counter system.
With this technology, @ONresources biologists are able to better manage this diverse fishery.
Once again, a reminder that the boat ramp in #PortCredit -- and the well-marked staging lanes in that area -- are intended for boats and trailers -- not cars. Drivers have tons of legal places to park. Boats have one, designated area. Please keep it clear. https://t.co/iCTNpsaUxY
@Jro9902@citymississauga@DaskoWard1@MississaugaPF We will call 311. However, we should not have to call every day. This has been constant this week. We just swung by. Daily enforcement will be needed this week if we want next weekend to be better tban this. Charter captains are now paying people to protect their reserved spaces.
Port Credit has one boat launch area and dozens of parking lots. It's time to start ticketing people and towing cars that are blocking the only space that we have for getting boats in and out of the river. @citymississauga@DaskoWard1@MississaugaPF
Daily #COVID19 update. It's important to remember that even though it feels like we're in a lull, cases continue to increase daily and we are not over this pandemic yet. We must remain vigilant, cautious, and re-open slowly, and continue to watch the numbers closely.
Daily #COVID19 Update. This is lowest daily case increase in a number of weeks with only 11 new cases in #Mississauga. I want to see this trend continue in the days and weeks to come. Today's numbers are the result of the work we did 2 weeks ago. #StayAtHome
This sad news will hit local businesses this summer. The derby has been great to Port Credit for decades. Port Credit should be great to this Derby in 2021, to help them, and others, bounce back from #COVID19. @MississaugaPF@DaskoWard1 @RasWard2 @BonnieCrombie@sportsmenshowTO
