Awesome initial set of 3 🏃🏼 #runningmyths infographics from @JamesA_15@DrChrisBarton @rwilly2003
1️⃣: running & strength training
2️⃣: running & stretching
3️⃣: footstrike patterns during running

All of the hip adductors double as either hip flexors (adductor brevis, adductor longus, pectineus, and gracilis) or hip extensors (the adductor magnus), and so are actually more relevant to sprint running than the more frequently-trained quadriceps...
New paper were we define a test method to assess the mechanical properties of #treadmills. Using this method we show 1) differences between zones (see image) and 2) we show commercial treadmills do not match the mechanical properties of tracks or concrete

Let's clear this up.
Going for a run by yourself outside (or with those you are living with) is perfectly fine. In fact, it is probably beneficial for your physical and mental health right now.
Let's not demonize activities that don't risk the spread of disease.
NEW CANADIAN RECORD 🚨
Over the weekend, Praise Aniamaka hopped, skipped, and jumped into the 🇨🇦 Canadian record books, jumping 15.00m* in the men's triple jump, surpassing the previous mark of 14.95m held by Richard Lancombe 👏

And finally, we investigated whether PBF could be retrained (decreased) with a program of real-time biofeedback. A secondary objective was to determine the strategy that individual runners used to reduce their PBF (spoiler: most increased cadence 5-10%!).
Next up, we examined the correlation between kinetics such as PBF and running gait characteristics such as foot strike and variables related to overstriding.
For those wanting to know what I did for my PhD (in three simple tweets), here it is! Thanks @tomgoom for capturing my series of studies so well!
My first study investigated kinetic risk factors of running-related injuries (RRIs) & found peak braking force (PBF) was significant.
Week 3 Workout
.
I'm 3 weeks into my first real training block in preparation for the #manitobamarathon
.
The workout emphasis for me at this time is to improve my running mechanics, efficiency, and ease of running… https://t.co/isERnsQbfU
On MARATHON TRAINING:
I've had a few people ask what I do to prepare for a big race, and I'm never truly satisfied with my response because it's such a big question.
.
I'm planning to return to the manitobamarathon… https://t.co/5hppYWF4CL
Pseudoscientific nonsense. Snake Oil. Quackery. Potentially damaging to your health.
Sad to see @netflix give such nonsense a platform.
More science, less junk.
If you like to run, have you ever thought about how you run?
Physiotherapist and running gait analyst @DrChrisBarton says some little tweaks could help you run better.
