[Global Disability Summit @GDS_Disability]

As part of an ongoing webinar series, @IDA_CRPD_Forum and @CBM_Global hosted “The Global Disability Summit: Advancing Data Processes.” The session explored how OPD-led and inclusive data processes strengthen rights and accountability through the #GDS2025 mechanism.

💡 Highlights:
• 86 commitments on data to reinforce national systems
• Good practices of OPD-led and intersectional data initiatives
• Partnerships and co-ownership of data by OPDs

🌏 OPD leaders shared examples from the field:
🇵🇫 Pacific: National statistics offices trained by the @PDFSEC to integrate disability questions in censuses.
🇰🇪 Kenya: @UDPKenya built OPD capacity for local data analysis feeding national reports.
🇵🇭 Philippines: Las Piñas Persons with Disability Federation’s citizen data now informs local budgets and health programmes.

The Dialogue has brought together 130 representatives of 30 Organisations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) from across the Pacific region, including 🇦🇺 & 🇳🇿

Participants used practical examples, such as comparing the budgets of families with and without disabilities, to highlight the "extra cost of disability" and demonstrate the realistic experiences of persons with disabilities.
