Advocating for western ranchers who use public lands as a means to provide food & fiber to the world, & serve as stewards of our natural resources. #plcranching
Stewarding the land, conserving our natural resources, and leaving a legacy for the generations to come. That's #OurPublicLandsStory, and it's hard to find a better embodiment than the Sims family. https://t.co/96iPOweW89
Grazing plays an important role in supporting healthy rangelands. When well-managed, it contributes to long-term land health in several key ways:
•Reduce wildfire risk
•Helping control invasive species
•Supporting soil health
Across working landscapes, grazing remains a practical tool that supports the people and places that depend on them.

America 250 | On the Range
Today, ranchers manage nearly 250 million acres across the West, including public and private land, continuing a long tradition of working lands stewardship that has shaped the American landscape for generations. They serve as a frontline defense against wildfire, invasive species, and rangeland threats.
As we look toward America’s 250th anniversary, we recognize the long legacy of stewardship on working lands.

Each year, ranchers and industry leaders travel to Washington, D.C. to ensure the voices of those who live and work on the land are represented in policy discussions.
For those who steward our working lands every day, decisions made in Congress and by federal agencies directly impact grazing access, land management, and the long-term health of rangeland ecosystems.
With 2026 declared as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (@IYRP2026), we celebrate the value of these working landscapes and the people who steward them.
Rangelands cover nearly half of the Earth’s surface and support biodiversity, food systems, and rural livelihoods. These dynamic ecosystems play a vital role in maintaining soil health, storing carbon, mitigating wildfire risk, and so much more.
Public lands ranchers across the U.S. are an instrumental part of the global story.

Healthy rangelands mean resilient communities, thriving wildlife habitat, and sustainable food and fiber production for the world. That's something worth celebrating today and every day.
We encourage leaders to join in this celebration by cosponsoring the IYRP resolutions and recognizing the value of rangelands and their stewards.

Rangelands are working landscapes — sustaining livestock, water, biodiversity, and the rural communities that depend on them.
The International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP) recognizes the global importance of these lands and the people who steward them every day. For generations, livestock grazing on public lands has helped maintain open space, support healthy ecosystems, and sustain the economic and social foundations of the American West.

Thank you to @SecretaryBurgum and @SecRollins for taking action for America's cattle and sheep producers who are caretakers of vast, Western public lands.
This MOU is clear: we're working together for streamlined regulations, access to forage, and predictability for the future. ✅
Today at @USDA, I was proud to join @SecretaryBurgum to take decisive action in support of America’s ranchers. 🇺🇸
Together, we signed a historic Grazing MOU to expand access to federal lands, cut unnecessary bureaucracy, and strengthen coordination between USDA and @Interior.
This is about more than grazing. It is about rebuilding our cattle herd, lowering costs for American families, strengthening our food supply, and ensuring our ranchers have the support they need to keep doing what they do best.
Our ranchers are not only essential to feeding this country — they are also stewards of our land, defenders of our rural communities, and a living example of the grit, faith, and freedom that define America.
Spending 2 hours today with some of our greatest Americans — our ranchers — was truly such an honor.
@POTUS is fighting to put our ranchers first. And today was another big step forward!
Before the food, fiber & fuel – there’s the work.
It’s early mornings, skilled hands, and generations of knowledge carried forward every day.
Across the West, grazing public lands supports more than 60% of the western cattle herd and more than 50% of the western sheep herd.
On National Ag Day, we celebrate the connection between ranchers and the land they care for. This work is more than a livelihood. It’s stewardship, responsibility and a deep-rooted way of life.

Presidents Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden have recognized the gray wolf has recovered.
Yet activist judges thousands of miles from Wisconsin keep it listed as endangered.
It’s time to stop the slaughter of pets and livestock and return responsible wolf management to the states.
Today, I spoke on the House floor about the damages wolves are inflicting on wildlife, preying on livestock, and damaging the ability of fish and wildlife agencies to do their jobs. Ranchers, farmers, and sportsmen are tired of seeing their cattle chased, harassed, and killed, and hunters are tired of watching mule deer populations decline.
I look forward to the passage of H.R. 845, the Pet and Livestock Protection Act, through the House and then in the Senate.
The International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists starts in less than a month! Today, @FAO is kicking off the celebration with an opening ceremony that salutes all those raising livestock.

Everyone enjoying the scenic outdoors benefits from the hard work of America's public lands ranchers!
Day 2 of Annual Meeting featured:
@usdagov APHIS Wildlife Services Deputy Director Jessica Fantinato discussing wildlife conflicts.
@usfws Director Brian Nesvik on the Endangered Species Act and streamlining conservation processes.
PLC’s 57th Annual Meeting is officially underway with the start of Opening General Session! PLC President Tim Canterbury opened up the meeting discussing some of PLC's policy wins over the last year.
Recission of the BLM Public Lands Rule is a HUGE victory for public lands ranchers.
PLC Executive Director Kaitlynn Glover spoke with RFD-TV today about PLC’s work to secure rollback of the illegal, Biden-era “Public Lands” rule.
PLC member Tom Paterson testified in @NatResources on @RepGosar’s bill to delist the Mexican wolf. Paterson told members of Congress that this gone way beyond just a livestock depredation problem, these wolves stalk humans and prey on pets. This is a public safety crisis.
The Roadless Rule has turned our western forests into a tinderbox by preventing effective timber and grazing management. @SecRollins is taking bold action to ensure forests of the future are healthy and accessible!
After 25 years of failed policy, the Trump Administration is taking action.
Today, at the Western Governors’ Association, I announced our plan to repeal the Roadless Rule — freeing our foresters to manage our forests, protect watersheds, and prevent wildfires. Under @POTUS, we’re restoring forest health, boosting our timber farmers, and backing our firefighters!

Here in McAllen, TX to announce a BOLD 5-pronged plan to combat the deadly parasite called New World Screwworm – which would devastate ranchers if it made its way across the border.
We are protecting producers, strengthening biosecurity, and ALWAYS standing up for American AG.💪
