One stop during the Congress took participants to Steve Osguthorpe's Red Pine Land & Livestock U.S. Forest Service grazing allotment, where collaborative stewardship demonstrates how grazing, conservation and multiple-use public lands work together.

The recent North American Grazing Lands Congress was a reminder that the work happening on America's grazing lands has global significance.

As the world celebrates 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (#IYRP2026), one thing is clear: pastoralism is alive and well in the United States. Ranchers across the West steward working landscapes that support healthy watersheds, wildlife habitat, wildfire risk mitigation and rural communities while producing food and fiber.

Yesterday, @POTUS announced revisions to the boundaries of Bears Ears & Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. 👏

PLC fought designation & expansion of these monuments in 2016, and are glad to see a return to the direction in the Antiquities Act: "[designate the] smallest area compatible with the proper care and management".

Taking millions of acres out of multiple use threatens sustainability of local communities and their economies, and virtually guarantees that basic tools to ensure grazing continues are taken off the table. PLC applauds these steps looks forward to ensuring our partners don't face unnecessary burdens in the future.

Today at @USDA, I was proud to join @SecretaryBurgum to take decisive action in support of America’s ranchers. 🇺🇸  

Together, we signed a historic Grazing MOU to expand access to federal lands, cut unnecessary bureaucracy, and strengthen coordination between USDA and @Interior.  

This is about more than grazing. It is about rebuilding our cattle herd, lowering costs for American families, strengthening our food supply, and ensuring our ranchers have the support they need to keep doing what they do best. 

Our ranchers are not only essential to feeding this country — they are also stewards of our land, defenders of our rural communities, and a living example of the grit, faith, and freedom that define America.  

Spending 2 hours today with some of our greatest Americans — our ranchers — was truly such an honor.

Across the West, grazing public lands supports more than 60% of the western cattle herd and more than 50% of the western sheep herd.  

On National Ag Day, we celebrate the connection between ranchers and the land they care for. This work is more than a livelihood. It’s stewardship, responsibility and a deep-rooted way of life.

Today, I spoke on the House floor about the damages wolves are inflicting on wildlife, preying on livestock, and damaging the ability of fish and wildlife agencies to do their jobs. Ranchers, farmers, and sportsmen are tired of seeing their cattle chased, harassed, and killed, and hunters are tired of watching mule deer populations decline.

I look forward to the passage of H.R. 845, the Pet and Livestock Protection Act, through the House and then in the Senate.
