PriOrity Effect Mechanisms (POEM)
Field experiment to understand the mechanisms of priority effects and their persistence over time in dry acidic grasslands.
Harvest 2022: β
Sample processing: π
Looking forward to linking aboveground and belowground data from our #POEM experiment to better understand plant order of arrival effects on the structure and functioning of #plant communities.

Harvest completed successfully! Four full days of field work hand in hand with @BenjaminDelory and our students to collect the biomass from the two sub-experiments of @POEM_experiment . Lots of plant samples to process but looking forward to seeing the results π€
Field season is already here! πΎβοΈπΌ A good way of starting the week working on the @POEM_experiment It looks great after mowing the surroundings.
Tomorrow I will be talking about assembly history and vertical root distribution at @CAED_UMH

A #grassland field experiment that manipulates the order of arrival of 3 plant #functional groups (grasses, forbs, and legumes) and additionally tests the role of #weather conditions forms the main platform of #POEM. Here is a little video summary of what we have done so far π
#POEM stands for PriOrity Effect Mechanisms. The main goals of the project are to investigate the mechanisms creating #priority effects (above- and belowground) and elucidate how #weather conditions modulate the creation and trajectory of #priority effects in dry #grasslands.
