Last week @POTUS & @EmmanuelMacron issued a joint Statement by commits to promoting advanced #nuclear power globally and its "key role to play in order to reduce global CO2 emissions".

It’s cold & there is no onshore wind to get a turbine to produce electricity. That needs minimum 14km/h. 45km/h to run it at capacity.
Turning nukes or coal off in Europe until e-storage & required transmission lines can replace some of the old with baseload power is criminal.
Baden Württemberg’s grid operator sent a warning to clients for the first time ever.
It won’t have enough power this afternoon for 1h & asks citizens to reduce power consumption. Dunkelflaute ahoy.

🤩⚛️🏆 ENS is glad to announce that Dr. Stanislas de Lambert is the #winner of the ENS HSC #PhD#Award 2022! Dr. de Lambert was nominated by @SFENorg & presented the PhD #dissertation "Contribution to the multiphysical analysis of fuel assembly bow"

📖⚛️🚀 "The purpose of this paper is to highlight the fundamental contribution that #nuclear#energy has made to #space#exploration, and to highlight the need to develop new space nuclear systems to meet the future challenges of #spaceexploration."

What an article! https://t.co/Oi64sJSYaN "KGB efforts were strategically successful. Through a constellation of Soviet front groups in Western countries, it promoted the message that Chernobyl could happen anywhere, even the US... the inevitable result of all nuclear power."
The European Green Deal is missing the most efficient energy source of all – nuclear. Excellent article from @JessicaStegrud @TimmermansEU @EU_Commission @FORATOM_nuclear @kadrisimson

Pleasingly clear climate hawk view in @ForeignAffairs by @drvox "It's absurd to be "pro-nuclear" or "anti-nuclear" on an ideological/identity basis. The world should build whatever carbon-free options are fastest and (with all costs considered) cheapest." https://t.co/IFpCTIERY6
The draft proposal for the EU's sustainable finance disclosure regime must be updated. Financal groups should be required to disclose their exposure to all fossil fuel production, including oil and gas, not just their exposure to solid fossil fuels.
Swedish Minister for Environment and Climate and Deputy PM @IsabellaLovin declares the Swedish position on the #EUGreenDeal:
"Various fossil free energy sources should contribute to Europe’s climate transition including #nuclear and #renewables."

My latest @CarbonBrief analysis:
CO2 emissions within the UK fell another 2.9% in 2019, reaching levels last seen in 1888 (!)
Including a record 7 consecutive years of decline, emissions fell by 29% over the past decade.

Cette tribune montre bien le fait que certain(e)s élu(e)s ne comprennent pas pourquoi une transition écologique et énergétique est nécessaire.
La transition n'est pas une fin en elle-même, c’est un moyen.
Explications ci-dessous.
New Nature study concludes that natural emissions of methane are 10-5-x lower than thought.
That in turn probably means oil and gas wells emit 25-40% more than previously thought.
I think that's good news: we can curb our emissions more than we thought.
