This can’t be done without a new west coast pipeline, and voilà:
“Wang Yi’s trip to Canada marks his first in a decade and he is set to meet Prime Minister Mark Carney later Friday…with expanded oil and gas shipments to China high on the agenda.”
@renewablesmiffy It probably depends where you live and how hot exactly. MB hit 30C yesterday, this heat brings minimal wind, so we at least know MB's AC was not powered by wind turbines (nor was anything else, for that matter). It is common to have minimal wind with high heat.
@mwt2008 What is your data for these Scotland only but not the entire grid? It one thing to sometimes achieve these stats for a small population like Scotland, it doesn't mean it can scale to the entire UK grid by any means
@mwt2008 I see UK and France are experiencing a heat wave, unfortunately. This is typically a time when there is minimal wind, but electricity consumption is almost as high as it gets, a poor combination. https://t.co/6YpQBmDWd1
batteries are IBR's so they are unable to do much for ancillary services. This info you provide does partially explain why the UK has some of the world's most expensive retail electricity prices. With IBR's synchronous inertia costs extra. Aus is spending $2.2 billion on 21 synchronous condensers. Also, grids should emit <100 grams CO2/kwh, averaged annually, UK still has a ways to go at 176 for 2025 https://t.co/ISQaYUc8cq & https://t.co/sULxlM5FkD
@mwt2008 " 96.0% wind, 4.0% solar" With all that IBR generation, its a good thing there is plenty enough synchronous inertia throughout the grid. Spain found out the hard way what happens when a fault occurs and there is insufficient synchronous inertia https://t.co/M7IFfEQNRr
@renewablesmiffy Actually, if you focus on what matters, subsidy per unit of energy produced, solar takes the prize as the most subsidized energy producer.
Good riddance.
Guilbeault is personally responsible for transforming the carbon tax (which survived two elections!) into electoral poison.
It's because of Guilbeault that we have to start all over again from ground zero.

@RichardRusk007 Those are pretty good tricks, but not nearly enough, also, solar "eating" itself https://t.co/Iv1Ga1OvB8 and these charts https://t.co/5oQbze1Td1 & limitations of IBR's https://t.co/M7IFfEQNRr
